E3 2009, adult literature, and more.
Wednesday: E3 is slated for a major comeback next year. The ESA promises that next year’s expo, slated for June 2-4, will be big. While the show still appears to be restricted to developers, journalists, and the like, it seems as if organizers have taken at least some recent criticisms to heart. Some of the changes promised in their statement include “increased booth sizes†and “increased qualified audiences.â€Â Sounds like they’re headed in the right direction. Plus a ranking battle reminder.
Tokyo Game Action will be providing elementary and junior high students in Winchendon, MA with some much needed after school activities every Friday afternoon through their Fitness through Dance Dance Revolution and Bemani program. Funded by a grant from the Department of Education’s 21st Century Community Learning Centers program, its goal will be to promote physical fitness, as well as getting kids off the street and giving them something to do after school. While it’s definitely not the first time DDR has been used for good, Tokyo Game Action has shown once again that they’re all about the community and thus deserves a mention (and some props).
Will this 2D colossus finally be complete?
Castle Crashers is a gem. A giant, glimmering example of what happens when 2D and hi-res collide. It’s online experience however, is the opposite – a festering pile of disappointment that does everything from dropping games to clearing save data. The wait for this essential patch will soon be over, as The Behemoth has updated its page with the following:
“Over the last five weeks we’ve knocked out the issues with CC and are now verifying the changes to be sure they work as intended. Work is rapidly coming to an end for us and we are prepping the build to be handed off to Microsoft for their test pass and certification.”
Let’s hope it hits before the end of October and that all my friends aren’t already burned out on this excellent game.
We’re ready for our close-up Mr. Hirai…
While it’s still a bit infrequent for my tastes, it’s great to see the PlayStation 3 is starting to crank out a couple of appealing releases this quarter. If you’re the type who appreciates getting on-demand access to the latest gaming footage, interviews and more — SCEA’s recent partnership with YouTube just might fit the bill. The new PlayStation-branded channel will deliver non-stop content which will also include a broad variety of services including the ability to share user-generated content, participate in promotions and act as a one-stop resource to stay connected with the company’s first- and third-party releases. Visitors can look forward to featured highlights on big name releases including Little Big Planet, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, and SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation
The press release touts the PlayStation channel will be an “evolving service” that will initially offer a featured video section and offer users the ability to customize their own YouTube playlists with PlayStation content or subscribe to the channel for more updates. In addition, the channel will also work in conjunction with other components of the PlayStation community including the official PlayStation homepage and the community blog.
Sony plans to leverage the channel as a means to funnel upcoming promotions, events, interviews and other PlayStation-related content to the ever-growing community.
