PS3 Only?

A new trailer of The King of Fighters XII was released courtesy of Gametrailers. Before some of you get your panties in a bunch about the lack of Xbox 360 logos in it, do keep in mind that this video is most likely the same exact one that came with copies of the recently released KOF98: UM for the Playstation 2. Sony wouldn’t have wanted the 360 SKU advertised on a Playstation product, would they? The Gametrailers page for the video also lists the game as coming for Arcade, PS3, and 360. I guess we’ll see if it really is Playstation 3 only, but I’d be more worried about constant delays myself.

Update: IGN says KOFXII is coming out in July for both the 360 and PS3. (more…)

So long good friend.

It’s official. We’ve just lost one of the best arcades in the US. Tokyo Game Action is to remain closed and will be liquidating all their assets in May due to flooding that hit them on December. Why does this have to happen to such an awesome establishment with such great people? I’m literally speechless right now… (more…)

You know you want to watch em.

New KOFXII videos have surfaced from the location test at Shinjuku Club Sega yesterday courtesy of tomakuntube’s Youtube channel. Various system changes were implemented since the last build, the biggest one probably being the fact that critical counters have their own bar now. The game also received a shiny new hud and a noticable speed boost along with it. Plus the super freeze is back! Enough of my blabbering though, check out the videos yourself! (more…)

More like basic training!

Destructoid was kind enough to scan and upload a 39 page Street Fighter IV Training Manual for us all to see. Inside you’ll find: character profiles and movelists for all characters in the console version, an interview with Seth Killian, a history of Street Fighter featurette, plus some other bits of info. Those of you expecting a real training manual may be a little bit disappointed, but there’s always EventHubs.com and the SFIV feature in Q4 2008’s issue of Hardcore Gamer Magazine if you really want to level up (no console exclusive character strategies though).

Also a look at the critical combo system.

Lots of good KOFXII info from the game’s premiere event this weekend. The final 6 characters from the previously announced 20-man roster were unveiled: Goro, Clark, Joe, Sie, Chin, and Duo Lon. Overall, it seems like a pretty standard cast with the usual fan favorites (not that it’s a bad thing). It is notable that Elizabeth, who’s been featured on an old KOFXII flyer is absent from the cast. Are we due for some more surprises, or did they just decide to drop her due to the lack of story in this installment? I’ve linked some gameplay videos (along with art of the new characters) to the forums for those of you who hasn’t seen them yet. The linked videos regrettably has no sound, but there’s also a 20 minute video on Nico Nico Douga that was uploaded that does. (more…)
