Cosplayers wanted.
Often we’re willing to make fools of ourselves in the name of impressing our friends, a romantic interest, or in this particular instance: winning a few seconds of fame on TV. Today GameFly announced a campaign designed to enhance its appeal and connection amongst the gaming community in a fun, interactive way: cosplay. Well, okay, it’s not targeting folks like that in particular, but this niche group was the first thing that came to mind.
The GameFly Super Fan Casting Call represents the company’s first contest in which gamers everywhere are being invited to dress up as their favorite video game character for a chance to star in an upcoming TV commercial. Yeah, just like that guy in the commercials who portrayed random personas like the war soldier, wrestler, and Shao Khan wanna-be. All submissions must be under forty-five seconds or less and should “show and tell” why you’re adore GameFly as well as the reasoning behind your video game character selection.
GameFly will also be hosting events in the following cities and times:
- September 9, Los Angeles: Hollywood and Highland Center – 12 to 6 PM PST
- September 16, Chicago: ESPN Zone – 12 to 6 PM CST
- September 23, New York: Hawaiian Tropic Zone – 12 to 6 PM EST
All video submissions will be accepted from August 26 to September 30. Voting is open to everyone beginning October 1 and continuing through October 31. The person whose video gets the most votes will win a trip to Hollywood to appear in GameFly’s next TV commercial.
