I rarely ever get sick, but even when I do I still go to the gym. I usually feel better afterwards.
The only time in recent memory when I was sick and didn't go was when I had a stomach virus and was shitting and puking non-stop. I figured that was a pretty good excuse.

Started my second round of P90x this week. First 90 days were quite satisfying given that I was nothing more than decent on the nutrition side. I'll probably be more strict this time around. Meanwhile my overall strength and fitness levels are hugely improved from 90 days ago, and I was hardly a wimp to begin with. Another 90 days will be interesting.
How does p90x effect your overall endurance? It looks pretty intense.

Hard to say because, aside from softball and some light hiking, my only exercise for the last 90 days has been p90x. But, take last night's workout for example -- legs and back. In about 47 mins (not including warm up and cool down), I did 16 sets of various leg exercises (wall squats, single-leg wall squats, lunges of all types, calf raises, etc.) and 80 pull ups (reverse grip, wide grips, close grips, and switch grip), all with a single 1 minute break at the halfway point.
No fucking way could I do that 90 days ago -- neither the pace, nor reps. The same is true for the other workouts, both resistance and aerobic. I also picked up a heart rate monitor a couple months back and have noticed that my recovery time is dramatically reduced.
So my take is that I've made substantial endurance gains.
What ElCapichan said. If they get sick, fuck 'em. I gots ta lift.
BTW, the most annoying part about lifting for me isn't the lifting...I could do that all day. It's the diet. Having to eat on a regualr basis all day, even if I'm not hungry, is annoying as fuck. But it's the only way I manage to put on any weight.

I'm lucky I don't have this problem. When I was an immobile piece of shit, I was never all that hungry and didn't eat much. When i started to seriously get into lifting, climbing, cardio, etc., my appetite kicked in big time, though it has greatly increased my monthly grocery purchases. My cousin has the same problem. Works out 5 days a week, but he has no appetite so at 5'11"ish, he weighs maybe 135.
Or get up early and go to the gym before your day job. It's hard at frist, but you adjust. Now I work out better first thing in the morning than I do at any other time of the day.

Thats what I do. I work at 8am so I'm up at 5 for the gym.
When I had a day job before I started freelancing I had to be at work at 9, so I'd get up at 6. I can pretty much work out any time of the day now, but I still go first thing in the morning. It's great.

For the most part. I'm writing for a couple of sites and that sometimes requires me to travel locally (into the city and such) to cover events or attend movie screenings.
I don't miss my corporate desk gig AT ALL, and I'm working hard to ensure that I never have to go back to that kind of life ever again.

I don't get home at night until about 2-3am. If I get up before my day job I'll be getting 3 hours of sleep each night. There just aren't enough hours in the day for me right now.
Everything the white lego guy says is 100% correct, especially about squats curing cancer.
BTW, after watching that video, I found this one...ouch.

I decided I'm going to start doing some walking now that I have an ipod again. I went for my first one tonight and walked 3.8 miles in 69 minutes. According to my pedometer I took 2073 steps per mile.
At the halfway point I was feeling that good old smoker's lung saying hello.
Any suggestions for a website to track stats and things without having an iphone or a touch? If I can drum up some high score bullshit I'll probably stick with this longer.
Working has fucked up my fanatical eating regimen. I no longer have enough hours in the day to consume the amount of food I am supposed to. I am choking down a cup of greek yogurt right now (in before semen jokes) and I am not happy about it.
I already had three fucking 25g protein shakes today made with milk. I don't want another one, but I need another 25g of protein before the day is done, and the day is done soon.
5.42 mile walk tonight. 10,687 steps over an hour and forty-seven minutes for an average of 1971 steps per mile. I will be finding out soon if my pedometer is a pile of shit or my steps per mile will start to average out.
Josh- like I said above, eating is the hard part. Nuts (almonds, cashews, peanuts) are an easy thing to snack on to get some extra protein. Pure Protein also makes bars that are small (they can be eaten in maybe 2-3 bites) but pack 20 grams.
So make sure you gobble some salty nuts, jam a nice thick bar in your mouth, and then gulp down some of that creamy yogurt. You'll be a man in no time.

My gym offers free 55 minute Yoga sessions several mornings a week. I'm going to start taking advantage of this.

Wow, yoga ain't for pussies, that's for sure. I'm sure it'll get easier as I get used to it and my balance improves but that shit works muscles I didn't even know I had. Whew.
Afterwards, I walked 2 miles on my gym's indoor track. 13 laps = 1 mile, so I did 26 laps, averaging 66 seconds a lap (using the stopwatch in my iPod).
Now I'm enjoying some chicken salad made with celery and Smart Balance Omega light mayo (it's made with soy, canola, olive, and flaxseed oils) and a chocolate chip Fiber Plus bar.

No kidding. P90x was my first real exposure to Yoga, I'm sure there's a lot of variation in Yoga classes throughout the land, but I can say the Yoga I do still kicks my ass good. I suppose it's the muscle tension required to hold the various poses. Good for you, Dole.
60 pound dumbell presses today, up from 55s last week. Also my first day of completing three sets of dips (proper form, full range of motion) without having to use the pansy machine.

HURR HOW MANY REPS
Good job on the dips, btw. Glad you no longer need the training wheels (AKA dip machine).
I'm doing chest tomorrow. I'll jot down my exact exercises/weight/reps and post 'em here afterwards.

I've been keeping a spreadsheet of every weight, set and rep since I started working out with free weights and the level of progress makes me happy. I have reached a three week shoulder press weight plateau, but I'm increasing my reps, and hope to work through the weight issue this week.
That retard is a hell of a lot stronger than you will ever be.
Not while he's lying on the operating table, faggot.

Hey, maybe you should worry less aboud defending your injured boyfriend and actually post about something you've done to improve that flabby, jiggly body of yours. How about it, Trixie?

for someone that has talked for like a damn decade about how clean he eats and how strong he is...yeah, not impressed
Anyhow...after my body exploded and started twitching everywhere and my speech slurred (stroke? I dunno), I went from 165 to 215 in a few months. I'm down to a tad under 180, so I'm happy with my flabby, jiggly body. Was scary. I slept a total of zero hours in a month. Thought I was dying. Ate everything in sight. Typical after work meal was a few candy bars and a large pizza with breadsticks and a few cokes. Stopping going to the gym when my speech went. Didn't go back for months. I needed someone to go with me because otherwise I would have been stuck heading for 250 or more.
Weight is coming off. I'm still a bit scared to go back to cardio. Right before everything went downhill I lost my breath two days in a row on my post-lifting cardio, a feeling I had never had before. I'm giving it until I lose 10 more pounds or until weight loss completely stops.

It's a thread about working out, so I talk about working out. OMG
Also, newsflash: I couldn't give a shit about impressing you, kiddo.
BTW, I'm getting a delicious Starbucks Java Chip after I drop my gf off at school. They have, like, a million calories. I can't wait!

That's a real sad story and I'm glad you're on the comeback. I don't know what kind of cardio you were doing, but maybe something less intense (walking, say) would help ease you in.
Now stop being a twat and just post about working the fuck out.

so there is something wrong with my right arm. feels like a tendon or something in the forcep is strained. it hurts when i do a curling motion if i have a tight grip (even without weights). its been over a month and i was hoping it would have just gone away
I had something like that recently. Turns out it was bicep tendonitis. Nothing life-threatening, but it is annoying.
Start warming up more before you work out (some light cardio, stretching, and a high rep set or two before lifting heavy). Also, try taking something like ibuprofen right before each time you train to help combat the tendon inflamation. That worked for me, but if that doesn't help then get yo ass to a doctor.

Doing more explosive exercises for functional strength, more cleans, more one arm shoulder presses using a t-bar in one hand and holding a dumbell in the other (simulating throwing jabs and holding up your other hand to block). Going to implement more swimming and shadowboxing while submerged in a pool, some artifical indoor rock climbing as well. I have found a weight that I am comfortable with in terms of footwork and hand speed; I had previously still been a bit too bulky and my weight would fluctuate too often.
