The new trailers and such look just like a remake of the old series, very cool. It's gonna be interesting figuring out the characters from the 80's show to this one.
I would suggest anyone who has never seen the origial V to check it out. That is of course if that thing is your bag baby.
the thing this time is that they're using religion against humanity instead of being straight-up space nazis, still it's good to see V back even if it lacks the action chops of michael ironside and marc singer

If anyone here hasn't seen the original V and V: The Final Battle you can watch them tomorrow on Sci-Fi (fuck calling it SyFy) starting 12:30pm. Check your local listings and all that. Give it a try if you've never seen the original.
They are really going fast with the storyline compared to the original. We see the resistance, visitor cell twist, first visitor traitor (WITH POSSIBLE BIRTHING SCENE?! ) ..etc. Promising first episode.
Yeah they pretty much crammed the first 3 hours of the original into the first hour of this one. Disappointed the first ep was only an hour. Whatev, bring it.
This has a lot of anti-Obama "wake up sheeple" rhetoric in it so far.
No. It has a lot of anti-government spoon feeding shit in it. You're not thinking big enough.

mad disappointment if next week they don't reveal that their base of operations for the last 10 or 20 years has been the cavernous underground at the denver airport
There was absolutely zero suspense in the first episode. Like... they blew their wad(s) all at once. And should have waited to reveal the theory of the V's being amongst us for years. Elle refusing to answer anything but softball questions from the reporter in order to quell rioting and dissent was all you needed to show to convey how manipulative they truly were.
But now we know they're up to no good and that Wash was a V all along! BETRAYING HER TRUST. They should have drawn all of this out a few episodes. But maybe not - if the other episodes are interesting this won't be a problem, I guess.
I'm just worried they didn't slowburn their story properly.

Every politician in the history of politics has had a message of hope in one way or another. Obama just branded is straight with easy-to-recite brainwash techniques so everyone could feel like they were getting on-board the saviour wandbagon to make a difference. They even pointed out pretty blatantly the needless wars and manipulation of law the Bush administration is under scrutiny for.
The message in the first episode of V was not to follow orders or hype blindly. Research and do some legwork first.

I think that the show, like the actual reptoid conspiracy theorists (YAWA) and the original V, has a general anti-authoritarian slant, and is sort of a tired parable against the rise of fascism. That said, after the 2008 election hope and change became buzzwords tethered to Obama's campaign, and their use in the pilot especially "You're talking.... ?" were tricks to hook conservative viewers.
Also, I'm glad to see that they dispensed with the drama leading up to reveal the V's as evil, but agree that they probably should have held off on revealing Tudyk as a V. The whole thing kind of reeks of BSG in that respect, but it was the most promising aspect of the pilot.
The "universal health care" line made me roll my eyes assuming it was put there to bash the idea like it seemed. Only in America. Anyway, I don't remember much about '80s V but I liked this first episode enough to make me want to watch the next few episodes and see if it hooks me.
The first episode was pretty cool. Finally watched it yesterday. The first episode really gave you a sense of foreboding, like man some really bad shit is about to go down and I can't wait to see it.
