Talked with a co-worker tonight who watched it all go down. He almost quit because of seeing the shit I got put through. meh depression is for sissy's, you need to learn to just brush shit off and move on.
I get that things can be lame from time to time, but there is no reason to sulk in it. I have down days sometimes too, but they aren't too often. Just try to look at the better things going for you and think of people that have it way worse, I'm not really trying to be a dick about it.
I just don't get why people feel the need to pay some ass hole to listen to them, go smoke a fatty and relax or at least that's what I would do to mellow out.

It's nowhere near that simple. You can learn to deal with it, but clinical depression isn't just "being down". Have you ever experienced full psychosis or had completely unreasonable and irrelevant (strong) suicidal urges? It gets much worse.

To let all in on a little bit of DT's personal life, when I was 15yrs old my dad was killed in a hospital malpractice, because the fucking idiot doctors put his oxygen tube in his stomach and not into his lungs. Well at that point in my life my dad was my best friend, my mom and him had split up that summer, because he didn't have the "nicest" lifestyle.
He sold drugs, ran guns illegally, he lived the life of an outlaw i guess is one way to put it and my mom had enough of it. So they came to terms on it and split up, they was still cool with each other and everything which was cool, but also at that time I was old enough to actually hang out with him and understand everything that he was doing. We finally became really close and things were going great.
Well the night he was killed I had gone to the hospital with my family to verify the body and when I did i walked into a room where my dad's cold, blue, dead body was laying on a table. The tube was still in him and they wasn't allowed to remove it, because of the autopsy that needed to be preformed. That night I went home took out one of my dad's shotguns he gave me, loaded it and almost popped myself right then and there, but out of the corner of my eye I caught a picture of my family and I, that I had on my wall.
That made me stop right there and think, who was I to be so selfish? I mean my mother and little brother (who is 3 yrs younger than I) was going to need me more than ever at that time and if I was to just off myself right then and there it would destroy them both. I unloaded the gun, put everything away and decided that from that day forth I was always going to be there for those that needed me, any of my friends and family that ever need anything I am there for them. That night changed my life forever and yeah I do get sad and depressed about it, but I don't let it hold me down.
I have times where it gets me down a little easier than others, but I refuse to let anything put me down for too long and personally I feel that if someone can overcome such an ordeal like that on their own that there is no need to go spend a lot of money on some dude to listen to them, it just doesn't make sense to me.
You can call me an asshole or you can call me ignorant, I really don't give a fuck. All I'm saying is that if you are tough enough you can drag your ass through just about anything, psychically or mentally and that's how I'll always see things

That's like writing off schizophrenia and just telling people to "stop listening to the voices".
I'll admit, there is a certain self empowerment thing here but when you're having a great day with your friends and you say to yourself "I'll slit my wrists and be dead before anyone can find me" for no reason, it's not a "just get over it" thing.
I made a thread about it awhile, but my mental health problems reached a point of severity where I actually experienced a period of psychosis and literally spent several hours of my life completely insane and unable to rationalize anything. There's a reason we have doctors who specialize in mental health and in how the brain works with these things.
I'm not "down" all the time and I'm actually a pretty strong liver of the "positive lifestyle" and have learned how to approach my problems without the need of medication or a shrink. I have gone completely batshit crazy and was confined to a mental ward once too.
Go get coked up out of your mind and let it wear off and you'll have an idea of what I mean. Now just attribute that feeling to several months and you'll understand how bad things can get.
