I've been playing this on PC and aside from Gamespy and a few other minor annoyances (most of which can be fixed by editing the .ini files), its a blast. I've got a lvl 29 Soldier specced as a medic and its really fun to play. I'm pretty indestructible due to health gains from kills and thanks to a retarded rapid fire rocket launcher my team never dies too.
My buddy and I opened this bitch today and played for 12 hours straight. I'm level 17. We're loving every moment of it.
Someone tell me though, how the fuck will will someone kill 2,500 enemies with by using your Action Skill? That shit seems impossible to accomplish. Also, when you play online, do you have to play someone who's the same level as you? If I do missions and collect stuff online, does it count towards my character when I play offline with my friend?

According the manual, your character is always progressing, whether you play single-player or co-op. Before joining a co-op session though, make sure you quit & save on the single-player session.

Because most achievements are dumb wastes of time?
Level 28 Soldier. That turret kicks ass.

If you play offline, you can still play that character with a friend. Just get the person who has progressed through the story the least to host and you can help him catch up. Experience is nerfed for higher level characters against lower level enemies, so in 2 hours or so of play there is a reasonable chance they will have caught up to you level wise. If you join a friend who is further than you in the story, you can keep playing but you won't be able to do the quests. You still get solid experience from killing shit though.
That sounds pretty boring. The singleplayer doesn't throw nearly enough enemies at you. In 4 player it's not just that the enemies get stronger, but that they throw almost an unending number of enemies at you and dares you to fight your way out of it that makes it fun.
Other than it crashing on me every 1-2 hours, I can't stay away from this game. It's not even that interesting to me as an FPS, so I guess its the loot. I assume this must be the loot-whoring that Diablo players talk about?

The looting is fun, but I feel that the combat is the real hook. Lots of guns and modifiers (I'm always switching them up), lots of big shoot-outs, and lots of scattered body parts. The AI isn't special when plinking from a distance, but when you jump into the heart of a big fight, there's all sorts of enemy flanking, grenade throwing, barrel-shooting etc. It's hectic and quite a rush. I have to agree with the comment that the whole world seems kind of empty. On the upside, you get to shoot just about everyone you see.
You can do the whole game in co-op, or (more or less) seamlessly jump in and out of 1P and co-op in the same play-through. I'm sure the play time varies depending on how many side quests you take up.. Figure 20 hours moving briskly, and twice that (or more) if exploring everything.
Anyone else having connection issues on Live? I can connect to random people but not to friends who are inviting me to sessions. I accept and it just stays on the same screen....

So I've sent invites to a few of you folks and get no replies. It's an ok game to solo, but it'd be better to play with folks who are on Borderlands too.
Sorry, I didn't even notice it until I was about to stop playing.
In the future, just join the party and ask if there's space. It's easy to miss or forget about text communications in a hectic online game that can't be paused.
Played on Bacon's 2nd playthrough and good gravy! Dying in one or two hits is pretty humbling. Good xp though!
I haven't tried finishing all the missions in my game - keep the lvl 20-28 stuff for when my friends jump on to play. Right now 31, and just got into trash coast. I think I'm almost done...?
sorry about that one time Hero, but it was 6 am here and I was a fucking zombie and about to get off. I have a lv 28 berserker that I could probably hang with you without sucking too badly. Send me another invite if you see me on again.
I love this game so much. I can see how it wouldn't be for some people, but it has so many things that I love, gameplay and theme wise that I just geek out for it in a big way.
played with praxis for a bit, logged out, joined a game with joust and all skill trees are greyed out with 0 points available. all proficiencies are greyed out too and are set to 0. this is with a level 35 hunter character. no skill points means bloodwing isnt available either
gearbox forums says its a known issue with no fix. 20+ hours down the tubes
