I'm super-excited about this movie. I can't get enough Indiana Jones even today, and the fact that Harrison Ford is returning as Jones makes me even happier.
Then young indiana jones series is okay, but I have craved more jones adventure ever since Crusade came out.
I expect it to be good. Formula - George Lucas + Harrison Ford = Good Star Wars Movies.
George Lucas - Harrison Ford (And all the other great actors) = atrocious star wars movies.
I know that is not the reason the new star wars movies are terrible, (I could go on for days about why, but you've all seen them.) but I have faith that a Ford backed Jones movie will be at least as good as Temple of Doom, and that would be satisfying enough. Let's hope it kicks ass.
This has been reported all over the net so it seems to be true. They passed on the first script that was written. Lucas, Spielberg and Ford have to all give the script a thumbs up before they go ahead. I remember reading that location scouting was supposed to be taking place awhile ago. I should've asked Lucas when I met him (like he would have told me anything).
While I do love the Indy movies, I'm a bit torn on whether or not I want to see any more of them. The Last Crusade just ended the trilogy really well. Hell, even the name was good for a final movie. And we got to see some really good interaction between Sean Connery and Ford portrayed as father and son. That will be hard to top a dynamic like that if a future movie is made because I'm pretty sure Connery wont be coming back. Maybe they can throw in Roger Moore as Indy's estranged uncle or something <shrugs> , but it wont be the same.
I wouldnt be totally adverse to seeing something along the lines of a young Indy series of movies (that arent as gay as the short lived TV version that came out a while back) with a new actor and everything because like MVS said Ford is getting a little bit old and crusty.
But,these rumors of a new one have been floating around for a while now . I know I saw a blurb on DH earlier this month which said Spielburg hated the latest script that was turned out, so if this thing ever happens it wont be for a while.
considering IGN has had a sight for this movie up for a long time im suprised how many people didnt already know of this. apparently shawn connery dropped out because its rumored hes too old and is retiring from acting altogether.

It was Lucas that hated it (a script by Frank Darabont).
So my family and I were talking about who could possibly replace Harrison Ford as a new, younger Indiana Jones, and we couldn't come up with many names. There just aren't too many manly/funny guys around that could do it. We ended up with Brendan Frasier being the favourite, the guy from Memento in runner-up, and that's really it. Brad Pitt wouldn't fit, even though I like him in most of his movies.
Once, a gang of fat girls threatened to beat me up for not cottoning to their advances. As they explained it to me: "guys can usually beat up girls, but we are all fat, and there are a lot of us."

Asked by the Internet website IESB.net whether Indiana Jones 4 will ever be made, Harrison Ford replied, "No doubt about it." Button-holed at a charity event for Amnesty International, Ford was asked about reports that a younger actor might replace him in the role. "No problem with a younger actor taking on Indiana Jones, but Indy 4 is mine," he responded. As to whether Sean Connery would appear in the next sequel, he remarked, "He says that he is now retired, so I don't know." Ford dodged a question about whether he was happy with the script, saying only "I hear that [producer] George Lucas is happy with the way the new draft is turning out."
Ford is 62 years old. I do not want an Indiana Jones movie filled with "oh, my back!" and "oh, my knees!" jokes. Jones is a very physical role- if Ford can't bring it like he used to (and there's no way grandpa can at his age), it's best not to taint the memory of the first 3 films just for a cash run.

Last thing I heard was Spielburg saying its his next project after he finishes War of the Worlds.
According to IMDB he's first making a movie about the kidnappings at the 72 Olympics, then Indiana. The Indy script isn't even finished yet so I'd assume this is accurate.
