Well, I played Joust and it was cool at the time, but once Balloon Fight came into the mix, there was no looking back. I loved that game a lot! Heh, Burg picked the GBC version awhile back...maybe I should offer to trade with him.

Hehe...Incidentally, I think Joust was the first game I ever played.
They had the cabinet at the club house of the apartments I used to live at when I was about five. I sucked at it because I really had no idea how to play it.
I've never played Balloon Fight, so my vote goes for Joust.
Edit - Actually, I think I've played the NES port of Balloon Fight. Is it faithful to the arcade version?

I still don't. I think. Actually, the last time I tried it I might've actually managed to hurt something, but I simply never sat down adn tried to figure out how it works.
You bounce on top of the others to hurt them, right?
Balloon Fight all the way! It takes the main idea of Joust, and makes it 3 million times better. Balloon Fight controlls better, looks better, smells better, sounds better, just plain IS better then Joust. Joust is very boring, Balloon Fight is very exciting. With the flippers, varrying stages, and the awesome added bonus of "Balloon Fight" on the NES version, it just makes Joust look stupid.

Um, yeah. Joust, no question.
What's with all you schmucks voting for Balloon Fight? Have you no reason?
You're daft, man. Joust may have come first, but it has the most squirrelly control of any game I've ever played. Balloon Fight is better looking and a lot more fun to play.
Both games are classics in their own right, but at the end of the day when I go to reach for a warm joystick, my hands will wrap comfortably around the one protruding from the Baloon Fight machine.
