Rather than regale you with my disappointment of this summer's disappointing frequency of "must own" game releases, I've decided on discussing something else of importance. In case it wasn't noted on your calendars, GotNext recently hit its one year anniversary. Don't worry if you didn't get an invite to the party, it was a silent celebration.

Woo! Lots of ladies -- what a shame they weren't invited either. :(
With a full year under our belts, GotNext's crack team has been diligently thinking about several areas in which we can improve the site's style and functionality. Up until now, we've settled on just keeping the site updated with new content, but now the times has come to introduce some new changes. It's come to my attention that many of you actually appreciate our look overall, so rest assured that any new design changes will keep most of those basic elements intact. One area we're definitely planning to address in the near future is improving the site's front page, giving you an even more streamlined, interactive portal to reach your intended destination.
We also realize that our focus on retro gaming has slipped a bit, but I can promise you that it hasn't been forgotten. In fact, we're planning on getting Playback (our official retro column) back on track later this month. There's a possibility that we might begin accepting submissions in the near future, giving you an opportunity to share your opinions with the rest of the world. Of course, we'll have a few guidelines for that in the event that becomes a reality – stay tuned. Last but not least, we're also looking into incorporating a blog publishing system, which will allow staffer and readers alike to discuss their gaming insights or anything else of interest. Personally, I am very excited about seeing that developed -- it's just a matter of time.
In other news, we've recently recruited some new talent to our writing force – Lee Babin, who some of you may know from the Ziff Davis' 1up.com blog community and Matt Grandstaff, a very experienced writer whose name has been seen in numerous gaming online outlets. I also can't forget to mention Dave Beaudoin (more affectionately known around these parts as DaveB) whose responsible for setting up our content management system. And now, yes -- he's emerged from the background to bless us with some writing too. You should all feel so lucky!
We're currently looking to bring aboard some more additions to the team which you'll end up seeing over the course of time. Interested in working with us? Great, here's what we're looking for: potential writers who can either offer unique editorials, humor columns, or anything that they feel would make a great addition to the site. What we really don't need is are review drones, because frankly, the site has enough manpower capable of delivering in that capacity. However, if you're well-rounded can contribute in a number of different areas – drop us a line.
Well, I've taken enough time with this public service announcement. Come next month, I'll be sure to discuss some upcoming games that I am in the midst of evaluating for preview purposes. I won't get into the details right now, but let's just say one of them involves some meddling kids and a dog that has a knack for treats. Till next time!
