For many of us, our first experience with a gaming fansite either started with a personal homepage or simply regularly visiting someone's else production. I stumbled upon The Big Fansite Boom back in the mid-90s -- a time when many of us were still loyal to 2D, Nintendo and all things Sega. You know who you are.
Shortly after getting a bit more familiar with HTML and being inspired by a few fansites operating at the time, I started out with several fairly small online web projects (the first which was aptly named Bahn's Homepage) that eventually led to another exceptionally popular multi-platform website, The Next Level.
After being dominated by a laundry list of history longer than my abnormally slim arms, it was decided that it was time to start anew. And thus, Got Next was born. Looking back on the past weeks, I am proud of all the hard work and effort it took to get this site going. You'll of course discover that there's still a few temporarily sections that aren't accessible at the moment. Within the next several weeks, you'll be able to come back and discover a variety of archived and recent content injected in place of the "Coming Soon…" pages.
Got Next aspires to offer something new each week for you. Aside from the quintessential frequency of gaming current events, readers can look forward to a variety of entertaining features like our gaming lifestyle articles, interviews, and special articles including this week's retrospective on the remarkable Ys series.
In addition, you'll find articles that touch upon other areas of interest that appeal to gamers including music, toys, and anime. We'll also be introducing a variety of interactive features where you can get directly involved in the content process, expressing your insights and interests to other readers. Look forward to more details on this in the immediate future.
If you'd like to jump in and get familiar with the team and our existing community, I personally invite you to sign up on our community boards and explore the current discussion venues available. And of course, should you have any input related to the site or forum, I can be reached just a click away.
It's been said that I am a paragon of perfection, and honestly I'd have to take that as a compliment. Especially given the experience which the team and I collectively share with fansites and the aspirations we have for this site to offer its readers. One of our most important concerns was to offer a style that was clean, quick-loading and easy on the eyes. A big, huge thank you goes out to David Sherer, our lead designer and Joshua Tompkins for getting the design and server logistics all in place. We couldn't have gotten this far without you. And especially to all the editors, moderators, and friends who've supported us while the site was in production.
We hope that you enjoy what's to come and look forward to you becoming a regular part of our community. Welcome to Got Next.
