Hi there, and welcome to the Weekend Review, a column that, as implied by its title, comes out weekly and reviews last week's releases and previews the coming week's titles as well. It's old home having gone splat for a while, I'd like to open with thanks to Bahn for giving it it a new home while the world sorts itself out.

When last we looked we were in the middle of the biggest holiday season ever in terms of sheer number of releases. Though by no means over yet, it looks like, with this coming week, the deluge is finally slowing down to a manageable level. True, there's a few big releases like World of Warcraft and Pirates, not to mention smaller gems like Alien Hominid, but for the dedicated gamer it looks like the selection is slowing down to maybe a few titles a week rather than wondering what titles are just going to have to go unplayed due to lack of time, even if we could pretend money wasn't an object.

So take a deep breath or two, stretch your legs a bit, and look around. Christmas is coming and all the stress that goes with it but at least we've survived worst of the Fall crush. Plus you can look at all the things it just wasn't possible to buy on your own and let whoever it is that buys you stuff just know how unhappy you are without whichever games you've missed.

It's not quite time to retire this next feature yet but it's getting close. From September 1 through now I've kept track of how many games this column has listed, and though I'll admit there are probably a few that slipped through, it's still a good indication of just how much stuff we've seen in these three months.

Total number of titles previously released: 350
Titles released last week: 53
Total number of titles released this holiday season: 403
