Time doesn't stop for anyone, but it can be recalled in convenient retro multipacks. Capcom and Midway both came out with some impressive collections, while Frogger and Lunar both got new games to call their own. Of course, sequel-itis isn't limited to classic gaming, as a new Sly Cooper and Pokemon demonstrate. Fortunately, there's still space on the shelves for brand new titles like Indigo Prophecy or Total Overdose, which is good because gaming would get very old very fast if the best we could hope for was yet another update to the same games we play every single year.
Sequels aren't a bad thing, of course. It's hard to go wrong with a new Castlevania, but ignoring a gem like Trauma Center for the sake of the tried and true is never a good idea. Of course, in weeks in which there are only two original titles to choose from, one of which is EverGirl, it can be hard to appreciate the new. Still, one can't go wrong with the second half of Atlus' Digital Devil Saga two parter, or a new Worms game.
