Weekly Report, 5/09

Two weeks' worth of Spring's finest gaming.

As May starts up, the game releases wind down for a bit. There's one good reason for this, and it starts next week- E3. It's kind of hard to publish a game when you're putting together a display for the single biggest gaming show on the face of the planet. For a good example of this, in the week after last year's E3 not one single new game was published for any platform.

As for what we've got right now, it was a good week for racing, Dungeon Lords finally made it out, and Sony continues its quest to make the UMD format a viable platform for movies. Next week has a total of seven titles available, but on the plus side there's no overlap in any of the releases. Donkey Konga 2 and In the Groove, while both music games, couldn't have different gameplay if they tried, and Trackmania Sunrise and the DS Need For Speed Underground 2's only point of similarity is that they've both got cars. The diversity brought about by genre evolution is a wonderful thing.
