There's no denying and no pretending now, summer is just about over. It's a bit cooler out, the daylight doesn't last as long, and the release lists are now at a respectable size every week. The eternal question of "If summer is the lazy time of year, why is there nothing to play?" can be put away for another year.
Nintendo somehow managed to dominate last week. Nintendogs (in three flavors), Advance Wars, Pac & Roll, and Hello Kitty laid down a barrage of cuteness that the trendy urban wannabes Beatdown and Ride or Die couldn't get through. The Hulk managed to circumvent this by having, rarity of rarities, a Gamecube release built in to its multi-console format.
Next week is almost entirely about sports. Nascar 06, NHRA Drag Racing, and Moto GP 3 all pop in for a round of racing, and the Gamecube gets both wrestling and Mario's arcade-style baseball. Throw in poker and dancing and it's all real-world activities, all the time. Even Yu-gi-oh is a video game representation of the real world card game, although with fancy special effects.
