All the action and excitement of the superhit arcade game!
Turtles is the only licensed Odyssey² arcade port to come out in the United States, based on the 1981 Konami coin-op that was manufactured and distributed in America by Stern Electronics. Originally scheduled for release in April 1983, this is one of the last games to come out in America, and behind Power Lords is the one least commonly found. The arcade-to-home translation is very well done, and even includes the introduction and intermission screens from the coin-op. It really makes you wonder why there aren't more arcade ports available for this system!

The cartridge is of the later design, also used for Killer Bees! and Power Lords, that features game instructions printed on the label. Turtles is also one of the few games to have an actual attract mode instead of the "Select Game" screen.

The music, played through The Voice module, consists of two tunes. The first is apparently an original piece. The second is "The Old Gray Mare," a well-known ditty that's been around for many years. Both tunes are also present in the arcade game.

Electronic Games magazine awarded this game an honorable mention for "Best Arcade to Home Translation of 1983." Games magazine called Turtles one of the "Best New Games" in October '83.

Easter Eggs

WRITTEN BY J BUTLER While holding the ? key, press RESET. Release the ? key and the sign on the Turtle Hotel will read "WRITTEN BY J BUTLER." (Submitted by Jason Gohlke)

This procedure doesn't require pressing any special keys. If you simply watch the attract mode screen long enough, the sign on the Turtle Hotel will eventually display the following messages:
ODYSSEY PRESENTS TURTLES
PLAY ACROBATS
PLAY KILLER BEES
