Odyssey/Probe 2000 had big plans for its Power Lords license, planning multiple games for the Odyssey², ColecoVision and Atari 2600. Unfortunately, only the Odyssey² version ever made it to market, and barely so. A prototype of the Atari 2600 version was displayed at the 1983 Consumer Electronics Show, but it was never commercially released.
A prototype of the 2600 version first surfaced on eBay in late 2006. Another copy – a show sample cartridge labeled Power Lords I – was discovered in Michigan in 2013. The latter was discovered in a cache of prototypes owned by a former Philips salesman. The non-show sample cartridge scan and screenshot shown here are from the 2006 eBay auction listing (with some digital color and angle correction to compensate for the poor quality of the original photos).
