In its birthsleep, the Ringspawn dreams of the lesser Rings now scattered with their power faded. The dreams turn into nightmares. Nightmare macabre hordes leave trails of blood as they gather the lesser Rings to well fortified places of safekeeping. Waiting for the Ringspawn's wakening. The eons pass. The day comes. The Ringmaster wakes. The land shadows. - Instruction Manual, Page 1
ur story opens with the forging of the ten legendary Rings of Power, deep within the bowels of a volcano. We are not told who performs this forging, nor why. But the volcano's eruption hurls the Rings vast distances across the Kingdom of Seven Countries, where they wait while the Ringspawn sleeps. Again, we are not told what this Ringspawn is, or why it is sleeping, but its dreams come to life in the form of the Nightmares. Finally, the Ringspawn awakens and becomes the demonic figure known as the Ringmaster.
The Ringmaster's desire is to possess the ten Rings of Power. Why, we are never told. Perhaps he wants to use their power to enhance his evil sorcery. Maybe his greedy lust for gold drives him to obtain the beautiful Rings. Maybe he just likes shiny objects. But one thing is certain: with a name like "Ringmaster," his desire seems unavoidable.
The Heroes, fortunately, are on hand to deal with the Ringmaster. They are four fighters, each possessing a special power, who the players control. Two players simultaneously guide the Heroes through four kinds of Labyrinths, avoiding monsters and other hazards to obtain the Rings. The action takes place on screen, but to fully experience this game, you need the complete board setup. Go to the Master Strategy section to see if you have all the pieces!
