The Basics: Electronic Arts has officially announced that a fourth iteration of NBA Street is currently in the works and is scheduled to be released in Spring 2007.
Details are extremely sparse right now, though we can confirm that the Vancouver EA studio will once again be handling the NBA Street franchise. According to the fact sheet, fans can look forward to a "hyper real world that merges legendary courts with the hometown courts of your favorite NBA stars into one seamless city of streetball moments." Translation? Expect a lot of authentic features designed to faithfully recreate the real life urban streetball experience graced by a bevy of NBA stars.
In case you're new to the series, NBA Street puts you in the role of a low-level player who aspires to rise through the ranks, earning respect of his peers and ultimately become a b-ball legend. It's a lot like NBA Ballers sans the bling theme which I happen to consider played out these days.
What we think: NBA Street has been a successful franchise since its debut several years ago so I predict the next release won't disappoint. I'm particularly interesed to hear aboutthe 360 edition, which I'd hope would offer a bunch of platform-specific features aside from achievement system. Beyond that, there isn't too much more I can add to the prognosis. A trailer has been reported to be available so check back shortly for another update.
Title is also in development for the PS3.
