The Basics: As the exclusive 2006 multi-platform MLB title, 2K Sports has recently announced an early spring release date for Major League Baseball 2K6. With Derek Jeter once against gracing the cover, MLB 2K6 will be the only title to hit every platform, including the Xbox 360, Xbox, PS2, PSP, and Gamecube. "With Major League Baseball 2K6, 2K Sports has captured the essence of our national pastime," stated Derek Jeter.

"It's been a great pleasure and honor to represent the finest baseball game on any video game system. I'm really impressed with the new graphics and features that Major League Baseball 2K6 will bring to baseball fans everywhere." The newest installment of the franchise will include various new features, including realistic player collisions, and new movement system, new broadcast elements, and a unique player morale system. 2K Sports will be announcing additional new features and enhancements leading up to the release of Major League Baseball 2K6.

What do we think? More appropriately the question should be: what should we, the players and fans of baseball, expect from Major League Baseball 2K6? Honestly, I’m not quite sure. I’m fairly apprehensive in preparing for the new 2K6 game as a result of the new exclusive MLB license.

I only hope that despite the license, 2K6 Sports doesn’t pull an EA and simply release an updated version of Major League Baseball 2K5, which I feel is a very real possibility. Little information is available on the new features that will be available, but from what we have found out, it’s not looking good. Now I liked Major League Baseball 2K5, but the arcade elements were far too prevalent and I hope they are trimmed down for this game, or it will definitely lose a lot of playtime to EA’s MVP 06 NCAA Baseball.

Major League Baseball 2K6 is also in development for the PS2 and 360.
