Nu-Generation Games has released the first details of its upcoming third-person game, Origin of the Species. Combining present day conspiracies with military and science fiction elements, Origin is being played up as a vibrant, face pace world, albeit a few over-the-top elements.

Players will assume the role of a young teenager who awakens in a New York jail. Dazed and confused, the girl struggles to piece events together after a military test operation goes astray in the Nevada desert, claiming the lives of her friends and the desert community.

Acting upon her moral instinct, she sets off to locate her friends, unaware of how critical the situation has become. Unfortunately, her quest is cut short after breathing the toxic air around her, triggering a powerful mutation into a urban rock chick, touting a g-string and ends up calling herself "Dirt".

Without a doubt, this is one of the more uncanny origins for an anti-hero. We can only assume that Nu-Generation is striving for some comedic appeal, since Dirt will be accompanied by her emotive, bear backpack -- Mr. Boo, which provides valuable information about her surroundings. And if that's not wierd enough, the batch of screenshots reveal Dirt will face off against a bevy of mutated bugs that rival the current pest infestation in the Big Apple.

It's a bit difficult to guage exactly how the game will play, but the press release mentions a unique gameplay system which conventional shooter fans should enjoy. Featuring a new technology developed by Nu-Generation called "RPG Lite". Essentially, the system offers players a diverse, flexible series of gameplay parameters that rewards them for style and ingenuity.

Further, Origin will include up to twenty traditional weapons ranging from 9mm's, rail guns, and several fictional weapons such as the Phermone gun and Graviton beam. Details also reveal players can expect a fast, flexible movement system, consisting of dynamic dodge moves and traditional jump abilities.

A release date hasn't been established yet as well, but we'll be following with additional updates in the near future.
