Everyone Loves Pretty Colors

When people go to play Diablo, it's not just because you get to fight large hellbeasts, it's for the whole package. This game is no different, because the graphics and color schemes within this game are reminiscent to opening up and old comic book and literally jumping within the pages. Everything looks as if it could be printed out and splayed within some newer trade paperback, because it's just that nicely styled. The characters all have a beautiful quality to them and even if your hero is an eight-foot, armor-plated killing machine, it's got a nice enough look to it to make you sit back. While it's not gorgeous, it's definitely definitive. This game makes comic book geeks squeal in happiness, and that's what remains important; staying true to the genre.

Personally, I felt as if a lot of care went into keeping the stylized look of comic books in this game. With dialogue, with color choices and even with the moves that a lot of the heroes all have in common. There, however, is a flaw in this. Say you didn't grow up reading comic books or perhaps you never really got into them as a kid, would this game lose some of it's luster? Definitely so, because in certain places the "campy" nature of the comments can seem goofy and dramatic to people who didn't read Spiderman and Superman. If you are indeed one of those people who see the cute comments within the game and think they're stupid, take heed! They're not there for serious purposes, but more or less to drive the "Do-Gooder" storyline ahead.

Feels Like We've Been Here Before

As with a lot of multiplayer games out now, you definitely won't find a broad span of intellectually stimulating puzzles and intricately weaved storylines. Why? Because the point of these games are to bring them to the masses and not everybody has had a 4.0 upon graduation day. Sometimes, you can feel as if you're just repeating the same quest over and over again. Get this item, bring it back to the doctor, take newly formed antidote to sick people, etc. It does become a bit tedious, but as long as you've got a few of your superhero pals around, it breaks up some of the dust that might've settled and the usual repetitive nature of the missions doesn't seem so bleak. Everytime you break up a bunch of hoodlums with the lightning bolts that shoot from your fingertips, it feels like your first kiss. Screw all the boredom from the missions, it's the action that you came here for.

This game definitely didn't take too much from the paths of many in this current age. There's more text to read and not a single voice actor amongst them all. Reading is fundamental, I totally understand that, but a few cleverly placed monologues from villian characters would be nice. Especially after you spent three hours fetching, beating and puzzling your way towards that boss, they should at least give you something tomunch on while you're calling out of work the next day to level up your hero. (GotNext wants its readers to know that calling out of work to play videogames is not a joke. Please consult a doctor or psychiatrist before resulting to AGS, "Absentee-Gamer-Syndrome".)

A Million Hands Waving From Side to Side

With a rather inexpensive monthly fee and a lax minimum requirement field, this is a game that everyone should try at least once. It's fun to play, it's got a lot of potential for sequels and who doesn't like the idea of standing with their friends in spandex while being doted on by loving admirers? Get your friends together, take a break from Counter-Strike and create your own super-group! Take on missions, thwart villians and prepare the world for mass-peace and unity like nobody has ever seen before!

When all that's done, you can go water the grass and take out the trash. Being a superhero is a lot of work, but someone has to do it.
