Of course, no modern RPG is complete without weapon fusion. Shining Tears features a pretty intruiging tier-based system in which (depending on your level), you can use a variety of elements, such as mythril, to imbue your weapon with stat and element effects. In addition, you can also create new armor and helmets that will create helpful effects including abilities like regeneration, evade up, and more.
Sadly, the game does have an abundant degree of rough spots that may cause some players to give up altogether. Long load times ensue when leaving headquarters and or before the start of a battle; choppy framerates are just a few apparent examples. There's even a rather peculiar blurring effect that appears when you move (do not even attempt this game on a HDTV). SEGA what were you thinking?
All issues aside, Shining Tears shines remarkably in the visuals department, though I really wish SEGA could have spent a few more months refining this title. Though it will likely remain an oddity in the Shining library, destined to be forgotten (perhaps rightly so), I am willing to bet there are a few who will be diligent enough to look under the surface and will discover the game was worth the time investment.
