The sound is also terrific. The engines, crashes, and explosions all sound about as well as you would expect for the title. The music, on the other hand, is standard annoying EA Trax fare. Because the game is so deep – we're easily talking 30 – 40 hours of Career gameplay – you will no doubt become sick to death of the 10 or so licensed tracks that are included. Because there's no option to incorporate custom music, you'll be forced to turn off the tunes in order to prevent yourself from losing your mind while playing. Even if the music was good (always a subjective thing anyway), it would grate on anyone after hearing the same song for the ten-millionth time.

A much-hyped but little-used PSP feature is Game Sharing, and believe it or not, Burnout: Legends actually makes use of it. It allows you to play with another user in the general area even if they don't have the UMD disc, and is a fun temporary diversion. Only one car and map can be shared, but it's a lot better than nothing.
Provided you've got some buddies with the game, there's a diverse amount of multiplayer options – but because there's no internet online faction (only local), many of you might not get to experience this. Only once was I able to get a few friends together over a long lunch at work and go at it, but I must say it makes for a great time. The race modes are diverse and the action is just as good as you would expect from the franchise.
About the only real issues someone may have with the game is that it tends to get repetitive as you advance past a few car classes. The vehicles definitely get more powerful as the horsepower increases, but the tracks stay the same. In addition, obsessive-compulsives who simply have to get gold medals in all events will likely be brought to tears by a few of the nearly-impossible-to-achieve-gold crash events and burning laps.
A full year into its existence, the PSP still has few killer apps. Luckily for those of us who have invested in one, Burnout: Legends fills the gap nicely. While it may get a little old after, oh, about 30 hours or so, it's virtually impossible to find a racer with more to offer or a higher fun factor than Criterion's gem.
