The contrast from one map to another is a reflection of how Bungie went about designing and developing their new homes of carnage – the method of which can be fully explored in the new feature documentary included on the disc, "Halo 2: Killtacular". As with their previous documentary within the Halo 2: Limited Collectors Edition, "Killtacular" is another glimpse into the curious and often humorous world of Bungie and how they go about their genius. Detailing each of the new maps as well as offering insight on the designing process as well as tips on how to make the map work for you out in the battlefield, "Killtacular" can be classified as Edutainment for your Halo 2 experience.
Also included is the short film "Another Day at the Beach" which details the events of the ODST squad that were to accompany the Chief in wiping out the Covenant's first wave against the Earth. While it won't exactly make the folk at Pixar shake in their boots anytime soon, it's an entertaining enough extra that really can't be complained about.
One area of the Map Pack that may not get enough respect is the exceptionally crafted instruction manual included with the game. Featuring detailed layouts of every new map including weapon placements and other points of interest, the well-detailed booklet is a fine supplement to the disc itself and gives you the sense that Bungie really wanted to justify the twenty dollars you're putting towards it.
Aside from the fact that patient gamers will just download these new additions to Halo 2 for free soon, it's quite hard to find fault in this expansion. All 9 maps play beautifully in practice and thanks to the latest gameplay patch, Halo is even better then before both online and off. For Halo 2 fans both casual and hardcore alike, this should be considered a required purchase.
