It's halftime. My younger niece is having a baptism soon, and it's summer. I was due for a haircut. I went to have it done at the same place I did last time, which is at a point that's on my driving work route. It's a pretty small farm town. There's an area of more gravel than pavement in the rear of the parking lot where trucks sit, and I'm leaving from the store to return to my vehicle. I unlock the passenger's side first, then begin to walk over to the driver's side to leave. I ...
More late fun at work this week, during the first half of it at least. The last two days were better, though freight and return volume fluctuations were enough to ensure I didn't get back home particularly sooner today or yesterday than the other days. Happily, there's not much else to report on that front. Though before leaving this subject I'd just like to say that I do feel sorry for skunks. Their field of vision is ten feet and they're black colored, so they have basically no chance to live ...
Work was too long this week, ends on a hot weather note, I signed a false name on a petition for us all to be paid more (which had no specific reason behind the demand), I'll finish this post after going to see the new dumb video game movie with my wife because we rarely do anything together lately, and I have some D3 bullshit to tend to after all of the aforementioned. Oh and some guy was rude to me on another board. Who am I? No idea, man. You got me. Well now that I'm back from ...
A Libertarian Party convention came and went and it was an embarrassment to all involved. Statesmanship is apparently long dead. All along I've been wondering why prominent members of the party (such as they can be) weren't responding to every news story on their own website and elsewhere at every possible chance. I guess now I know why. I guess there were some people at the GM PSO who took the whole week off, because all of my work days besides today had very late starts to them. ...
Cancer claims another one. Sister's husband's side. The most I can do is pay a visit to see them separately over this weekend, as the services will occur when I'm on schedule to attend to my job. So it goes. The parts worker who I usually see at 6153 asked if I had any weekend plans on the horizon. I just responded with "more sleep". Much in the same as Christmas and other days, one main aspect to not doing anything extraordinary on the day itself is out of some kind of ...
For a work week which had no major incidents of any kind, it sure has been stupid. I wasn't home before 1PM at all in the week, and most of the days were closer to 2PM. My right arm has developed a soreness which is enough to bother me but not enough to really slow me down, thus making itself the perfect persistent distraction throughout the days. Thankfully the parallel soreness in my back seems to have dissipated. My wife did a good job of loading the weekend MP3 card with more songs than last ...
Today's run was the highlight to the work week. It appears that some kind of Friday the 13th curse hit the GM ordering system, so no normal freight from the local part deployment center was processed and shipped out. After getting gas for the truck at the end of the route and getting food on the way home, I walked in exactly at noon. I can't recall the last time I was able to do that. This does pretty much guarantee that the outbound load will be doubled up for Monday's run, but I'll enjoy today's ...
Company's in this weekend. The usual. When I came upstairs to start my morning routine to leave for work, he was there on the couch watching something on his ipad. I walked over, said hello, he looked up and said hello back, and that was that. Thanks for being here. I'm not looking particularly forward to the next few hours to come tonight after my writing this passage. On the subject of that person - it was his prom weekend just prior to this one. There's a woman who he's crushed ...
Yet again, a post will coincide with the end of the month, which means that I have to take special care to ensure it actually gets properly posted today. Perhaps if I make a small adjustment from the usual time settings, I could avoid trouble. If a Diablo 3 patch is relased, and nobody plays it, is the game dead? As of this moment of writing, it is afternoon on a Saturday and out of my list of friends, nobody is in the game. I can't say that I am the least bit surprised. 2012 was ...
In the realm of scripted performance, what is the worst faked emotion? Is it of romance which neither performer believes in? Is it with the character who everyone else responds to as physically attractive, despite the person not particularly being suited to the role? Is it depression or sadness without any substantial weight behind the event, rendering the whole scene as a kind of comedy? I contend, on a tangent from that, the worst faked emotion is that of humor (though I would put the not-sexy ...
Cooori is a strange program. I do indeed think it's better to use it than do nothing, definitely, but I have to wonder what kind of progress I truly am making. It says I have thousands of words in long term memory and a thousand more "known" in total. There are times when playing Star Ocean 5 or listening to the recordings that I feel like I am making strides in my understanding, yes. I just don't think I've still reached that point of having a fundamental "basic" knowledge of ...
For today's work, both of my usual loaders had called off. The load order paper which they gave to the person who handled the loading today was based on the old route structure as it was when I inherited it, and there have been many changes made from then until now. I arrived early enough to catch it while it was halfway done, so I was able to make some adjustments without undoing too much of the prior work, and volume was light enough that I was able to freely walk through the trailer throughout ...
Tuesday morning on work was my moment of retardation. I went through the motions from one stop to the next with acknowledging that I was misjudging the rear clearance of the trailer, but still went through my day as if I would just get used to it or correct myself eventually or something. I didn't do so in time to avoid denting up a garage door at a stop. It kicked off a hinge and left a dent, but the door still functions. Regardless, it was completely unnecessary for me to park that close regardless ...
The alternate work project never came around this week. Can't say I'm surprised about it. It might be deflected to this upcoming week, but I'm not holding my breath and I won't bring it up in the future until the boss initially does so. Ultimately, it may be the case that having a paid week just to show people how scanning boxes works is too good to be true. There's not really a lot else to report on the week. Work has just run late every day, and there's been no incidents otherwise. ...
I will not dwell on the negative. I will not dwell on this week. I will not dwell on being broke down double over on the same day and getting back home with four minutes to spare on the 14 hour limit after skipping the last three stops. I will not dwell on dumb shit part managers who say "lots of dealers are unhappy" because I don't run the route the same way as the previous guy did who basically killed himself in doing his job. I have taken care of a small house repair ...
