Talk about electronic media besides video games. Tell us what you're watching or listening to and why.

  1. Movies... as They Were Meant to Be Seen

I've been updating the settings on several games for 21:9 resolutions, many using DSR to downsample, which turns out beautifully, but I haven't actually played anything but those I've already posted. However, today I tried the other media that really benefits from an ultrawide monitor: movies. Check out Riddick sans letterboxing!

  2. Two days at Comic Con

This past week I had the chance to spend Thursday and Friday at Comic Con in San Diego. It was only the third year I have attended but it keeps getting crazier. More and more people, more and more lines, and most importantly... more and more shit to buy.

I didn't want to bog down the thread with pictures but I did want to share a small sample of pics I took so I decided to make a blog entry. If you have the chance to attend, I would recommend it. Whatever you are into, it is represented ...

  3. Good love story.

  4. 2011 the year that movies will rock?

Its real damn early. Real early, but 2011 is shaping up to be pretty special movies wise.

    So far we have ...

  5. Why I Hate Editing

Let's say when you die, you get to write your own eulogy. But you can't just make shit up. You have to use what's there.

You look back on every sec of your life with a comb and magnifying glass, every detail, every mistake. And you can't re-do or change any of it. You can just manipulate it or hide it.

But hiding it is not that simple. You have to hide it really good... where no one is looking, notices and wonders, "Hey! What just happened there??" So, ...

  6. Recycling: Toy Story 3

As a full grown man I was thinking about how there was no way I could watch this thing by myself. People would think I was some weird pervert that likes sniffing every seat around him to get his willies out. Luck would have it that one of my ladyfriends from work called me up telling me she wanted to see and I was apparently obligated to treat her to it. Fine.

She was caught me at a good time because I hadn't watched a Hollywood movie since Inglorious Basterds last year. I was just ...
  7. Minibosses in Long Beach - July 5th @ 9pm

I was about to make a thread for this but since it's only newsworthy to a smaller TNL set, maybe this will do. The Minibosses, a pretty good 8-bit/NES coverband is playing at Alex's Bar in Long Beach at 9pm on July 5th. It's like $8 cover at the door and the place is...intimate, so expect it to fill relatively quick. Although a pretty nice venue for local bands, how Minibosses heard of it, or how Alex's heard of them is downright weird.

Maybe it has to do with the bar being a location ...

  8. The Movies of 2010 (so far)

What can be said. I have been less than enthralled by the movies released thus far ... Not with standing, Shrek and Toy Story. Kick-Ass was an okay movie, but could have been so much more. Yes, it was an engaging movie and yes the violence was awesome. But when the movie is about the character Kick-Ass and I was more excited and entertained by the side story (Hit Girl) ... that's a problem. The next movie was Iron Man 2, this movie everyone was anticipating and in the end fell short. Just the same ...
