News and Culture

Current events, sports, technology, and all the other stuff out in the big, bright world that doesn't fit the first two categories.

  1. Obama is a giant vagina.

Barack Obama is a pragmatist, and there is nothing wrong with that. There was joke made by Stephen Colbert at his infamous White House Correspondents Dinner gig that George Bush "believes the same thing Wednesday that he believed on Monday, no matter what happened Tuesday", which is true of Republicans in general lately and that is a shitty way to govern. Supply side economics and a free market where the only regulation is 'caveat emptor' has failed over and over again and conservatives ...

  2. Fathers Day cards are never accurate

Have you ev er tried shopping for a Fathers Day card? They all say shit like "when I was little, you were always there for me, and supportive, and I love you so much!". It was pointed out to me today that most people want a card that says something like "Well, thanks for not having me aborted" or "That child support that you sometimes paid my mother was somewhat helpful!" or whatever. Very few people I know had a fantastic father, and even if their father was nice enough, ...

  3. Big Brother is in Your Phone, Reading Your SMS. WTF?

Well this news is disturbing. I am surprised this hasn't been announced sooner. Solution: Bitch about your boss on Skype or AIM...

The U.S. Supreme Court recently ruled that employers at public organizations, such as police departments or local governments, have the right to search text messages sent by employees as long as "a legitimate work-related purpose" exists. The ruling was made in connection with a lawsuit filed by a police officer in California who believed the

  4. Chipotle is so good!

I love Chipotle burritos, even though they're about 1/2 of your daily supply of calories. With guacamole, they are heavenly. I wish the guac wasn't an extra $1.80 though.

  6. Single Player

Sometimes it's hard getting people to come see a movie with you. It could have something to do with the types of movies I watch. I guess not everyone is into seeing a talking zombie baby popping out of its zombie mother's womb. These are just some of life's realities.

The same thing happened to me with video games. I remember learning to play an import of JoJo's Bizzare Adventure and eventually becoming really good at it. I brought it out once in my social circle and played it for ...

  8. Y'all Got Them New Xbaks?

    The phone rings.
I muster up all the possible enthusiasm that I can and answer with a dead pan monotone, "Game Craze"
"Yo! Y'all got them new xbaks?"
"The one that was just announced that it is shipping to retailers and will be available by the end of the week?"
"Nah man! They just said it's out today"
"Nah man. They just announced that it is shipping to retailers and will be available by the end of the week." ...

  10. In the Mouth of Radness

The last few years have been a bit of a blur. Playing with your perception of reality can do that to a person. So here I am, older, wiser and concerned about how I spend my free time. I love a good video game every now and then but I also love having a place to live and a bed to share and good coffee to start every morning. Glancing at an issue of EGM or Play will always bring a rush of memories. The squandered paychecks and the joy of unwrapping a fresh new game. Inhaling the new plastic smell ...

My sister, Mrs. Joe Gargery, was more than twenty years older than I, and had established a great reputation with herself and the neighbours because she had brought me up ‘by hand.’ Having at that time to find out for myself what the expression meant, and knowing her to have a hard and heavy hand, and to be much in the habit of laying it upon her husband as well as upon me, I supposed that Joe Gargery and I were both brought up by hand.
She was not a good-looking woman, my sister; and I had ...
