  1. LB log - 2015 Week 08

There were two prevailing themes to this week's work days. The first half of the week was National Engine and Transmission Return Week, as I combined to bring about fifty of them back to the hub on the first two days. At least I was fortunate enough to have the proper pallet jacks with me on both days, and there's no new snow to worry about here, so I was able to handle the work with little issue beyond the extra time required to do so. The rest of the week had me start out an hour late basically ...

  2. LB log - 2015 Week 07

The most noteworthy thing to report from this week, at least in respect of my job, is that I had basically nothing noteworthy befall upon me within it. No breakdowns, no injuries or sprains or other health complaints, no new snow to deal with, no getting out from the hub an hour late to start my day, no wide searches for pallet jacks before leaving and having to deal with a half functioning jack through the day. For five days, the routine was actually routine.

    I'm at Form 1040 SS ...

  3. LB log - 2015 Week 06

Tuesday morning. The promised snow did come and was as cleaned up as it could be after a full day, but there was so much of it that it presented problems, such as what I encountered here. For my second stop I approach a T intersection which turns to the left with the rear of the dealership on the right. My normal procedure is to turn to the left and then go in reverse into the lot to position my trailer by the door to make the delivery. There was so much snow that had been plowed that the normal ...

  4. LB log - 2015 Week 05

This week of work has been rather inconsistent in terms of time taken for me to complete the day. Yesterday had me done at 930AM and today had me end at 1030AM, and the latter time is accounting for my last stop not being part of the route as usual for Saturdays. One day, my first and heaviest stop will have a few dozen pieces, and then today it will have closer to a gross in quantity. One day, the time taken to handle that first stop is forty minutes, and today it was one hundred and forty minutes. ...

  5. LB log - 2015 Week 04

This week's work time fun came yesterday. The trailer's liftgate panel has an up and down button, and they're of the type which you see on something like an outdoor panel to a car wash or ATM or the like - a smooth plastic covering over the depressable button below the surface. For whatever reason, the Down button was getting stuck through the course of the day until it got to the point that it remained on indefinitely. Pressing Up would override the Down, but only to a very slow extent. When I ...

  6. LB log - 2015 Week 03

What a week. Today had me done with the route by 1130AM when usual Saturdays will have be back by 830AM or so - among the issues I faced was the assigned tractor having a missing gladhand, the tractor I used yesterday not being serviced and now in a totally unusable state, and the only pallet jack which I could find (after wasting a half hour looking for it) required a solid minute of pumping just to lift an object barely above the ground. Compounding this latter issue was me having to take some ...

  7. LB log - 2015 Week 02

Snow and sub zero temperatures are the theme of this week at work. It's been every bit as strenuous as I expected, though mainly for purposes of driving and physical work. The first night of the week was the worst in terms of snowfall, and I can't express enough thanks that the only kind of driving issue I had was in my normal car on the way to work. Anticipatory braking before going down a hill did nothing to prevent me from careening into the opposite lane for a few feet before I could correct ...

  8. LB log - 2015 Week 01

In a way, it can be said that the highlight of my week is that I managed to sleep a total of at least sixteen hours on Friday. I keep erratic hours overall and many days on which I work I tend to get a usual five hours or so, nothing too awful by any means but sparse enough that my body will want to periodically shut down and hibernate if I allow myself to languish in bed. There was no work to be done the midnight of New Year's Day, so I followed normal procedures and went to bed at a reasonable ...

  9. LB log - 2014 Week 52

Well this has been a fun week, and none of my diversion was directly related to the holiday season itself.

#fwp first, shall we. The prior Sunday's excursion to the arcade was mostly a good day and it came with a distasteful conclusion. Things were fine, I had the machine to myself for a while and was playing nonstop, and closing time was eventually around. They gave me two warnings before close, and they were ten minutes apart with the second coming four minutes before close. I said ...

  10. LB log - 2014 Week 51

The first person who came in to repair the elliptical machine turned out to basically scam us. The response about the parts finally came back, and the report was that he could not acquire the parts required to fix the machine. My wife sent a response asking for the part numbers which he used to search for the parts, and his response was that "there are no part numbers because the parts are no longer manufactured". Meanwhile, conveniently enough, he made mention that the receipt for his ...

  11. LB log - 2014 Week 50

The elliptical machine has reached a point where I can't use it at all, not even to pedal in place without any setting input on the machine. I managed to find someone to come in for repairs and apparently what I have broken is common enough that it should be fixed (I don't know specific details as he came in while I was at work earlier today). In the meantime, I have had to settle with using the treadmill at the parent's house, as well as do so after my day of work as opposed to doing it the first ...

  12. LB log - 2014 Week 49

I made mention of the Saturday Thanksgiving dinner last week, but that was before attending the event. Now in hindsight, I can leave behind my sage advice which I have obtained by experience - do not eat any substantial amount of dried kale before eating a full meal. Just don't. I'm glad the bathroom was close by.

After I was done with the route yesterday, I was home by 2PM. All I had time to do was eat dinner, check Internet crap, and sleep to repeat the cycle for the last day of ...

  13. LB log - 2014 Week 48

I had an incident occur during work this week. Relatively speaking it was very minor and didn't result in a wreck or injury in the slightest, but it was enough to get the police involved. I was assured at the end of the run that these kind of situations are in fact not rare and their insurance policy would take care of everything. That all may be true, but I was rather distraught about it all after it had occurred and the scene had resolved. How quickly time flies in that now two days have since ...

  14. Kaiser Knuckle: Team Mikado Gets General!

Team Mikado is on a mission to take out one of fighting's most infamous bosses... Kaiser Knuckle's notoriously cheap General! Rugal is nothing in comparison.

Starting out with Lihua, they qualify to fight him by meeting 2 requirements:
    1) No Continues.
    2) Score 900,000 or better by the time Azteca is defeated.

While it takes 15 Re-Challenges, they eventually get General using Wulong.

If you're in a hurry to see the good

  15. LB log - 2014 Week 47

The cold has arrived, and I think I can handle the issue of temperature by itself. Put enough layers of shirts, pants, socks, and gloves on me, and I'm able to work in 10F temperatures at night. It will get worse than that, yes. But I can add more to what I've already worn. I wish the clothing and weather didn't cause the skin on my hands to get so brittle though. The issue of snow and what it takes to drive with it and push pallets through it remains to be addressed, and that will remain a concern ...
