  1. Minibosses in Long Beach - July 5th @ 9pm

I was about to make a thread for this but since it's only newsworthy to a smaller TNL set, maybe this will do. The Minibosses, a pretty good 8-bit/NES coverband is playing at Alex's Bar in Long Beach at 9pm on July 5th. It's like $8 cover at the door and the place is...intimate, so expect it to fill relatively quick. Although a pretty nice venue for local bands, how Minibosses heard of it, or how Alex's heard of them is downright weird.

Maybe it has to do with the bar being a location ...

  2. Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles (Wii)

If you are expecting House of the Dead with zombies lasjflsflakf

If you are expecting House of the Dead with scientist zombies no they had that, too, fuck

    Wait. Ok.

If you are expecting pretty much exactly House of the Dead, you will be disappointed. This, aside from the similarities inherent to occupying the same genre, is nothing like HotD. It does however make you feel like you are playing a Resident Evil gun game and since I assume that is what ...

  3. Y'all Got Cash?

    Ah Summer Time!
    How I loathe thee.
Summer means the stinky people that frequent the store are even stinkier.

Summer means the greasy people that frequent the store are even greasier. Seriously. Usually I only have to wipe down the glass showcases at the end of the day. But if the temperature outside hits anywhere higher than 72 then the glass looks like someone smeared Vaseline all over it within minutes of opening the door.

    Summer means everyone has ...

  4. Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Wii)

Hey you guys, what is up? Do you remember when Nintendo made Super Mario Bros., and it was actually kind of hard? That last Hammer Brother in Bowser's for reals castle
    still
    haunts
    my
    dreams.

Remember when they made a sequel? SMB had been so popular and so many people had played it so much that they just went balls out and made the hardest Mario game of all time, SMB2. The game was so hard that Japanese kids killed themselves over it, but that is really nothing ...

  5. LoZ: Twilight Princess (GC)

So I am finally playing the Gamecube version of LoZ: Twilight Princess on my Wii.

I'd like to say that I was stupid when I was young, but evidence clearly suggests that the stupidity has actually not gone anywhere and persists in my day to day actions. A good, fairly recent example: I stood outside, overnight, waiting for a Wii console on launch day. It was also the first real day of winter. Actual snow fell. My friend John and I were grossly unprepared for that eventuality; our ...

  6. Hello! This is my blog.

    Hi TNL! What's new?

I guess I should talk about video games here. I like Lost Planet 2! It's good. I also like Mamono Sweeper. You should play it. You can do it here:
    http://www.hojamaka.com/game/mamono_sweeper/en.html
    You should do that.

I'm kind of hungry so I'm going to stop doing this now.

  7. MvC3 = OMGWTFBBQ Fighting Awesomeness

Nothing else needs to be said. This game is going to sell like crazy on Day One.
  8. Single Player

Sometimes it's hard getting people to come see a movie with you. It could have something to do with the types of movies I watch. I guess not everyone is into seeing a talking zombie baby popping out of its zombie mother's womb. These are just some of life's realities.

The same thing happened to me with video games. I remember learning to play an import of JoJo's Bizzare Adventure and eventually becoming really good at it. I brought it out once in my social circle and played it for ...

  10. Dear Games, RE: Last Night.

So last night was pretty crazy right? You said you heard some of the real popular kids were using motion controls and you wanted to spice up our relationship. I decided we'd give it a shot, and then you whip out all of these old moves that we all saw last year. If this is where our relationship is going, I think it's time we take a break. It's not me, it's you.

  11. Y'all Got Them New Xbaks?

    The phone rings.
I muster up all the possible enthusiasm that I can and answer with a dead pan monotone, "Game Craze"
"Yo! Y'all got them new xbaks?"
"The one that was just announced that it is shipping to retailers and will be available by the end of the week?"
"Nah man! They just said it's out today"
"Nah man. They just announced that it is shipping to retailers and will be available by the end of the week." ...

  12. Post Coital

I've never seen the reason to have these things. Most people just are not that interesting, and have nothing interesting to share unless they heard/read it from some other far more interesting source.
But we all want to be noticed.
We all want attention. Especially those of us who say we don't.
The only things even remotely interesting about my everyday life are the people who frequent the game shop I work at.
So I plan on filling this space with pictures and anecdotes ...

  13. In the Mouth of Radness

The last few years have been a bit of a blur. Playing with your perception of reality can do that to a person. So here I am, older, wiser and concerned about how I spend my free time. I love a good video game every now and then but I also love having a place to live and a bed to share and good coffee to start every morning. Glancing at an issue of EGM or Play will always bring a rush of memories. The squandered paychecks and the joy of unwrapping a fresh new game. Inhaling the new plastic smell ...

  14. E3 is here:

And it looks like the internet is trying its damnedest to spiffy up for it. TNL got upgraded, and Joystiq even got a redesign! I remember having to pay for an IGN or gamestop subscription every year around this time back in the day, but thanks to youtube/xbox live/G4TV that's a thing of the past. Even though this years E3 might suck(lol Kinect), I'm still excited. After all, the sucky parts can sometimes be the most memorable (Raffi, Riiidge Racer, that soccer mom snowboarding with Shaun White). ...

See that who's online business in the bottom right corner? It lists the people you've friended on TNL. It also allows you to play some rad bootleg connect four, and battleship.
