  1. LB log - 20120403

While I definitely don't suffer as I used to as a child, I think the allergy reaction is kicking in now. Eyes are watery and nose is runny. I also feel like I can't focus well, but I wonder if it's because I tried laying off the coffee this morning, which is something I need to resume doing for my days off of retail work. In other news, at 2AM this morning I heard some noises which I determined to be coming from outside of the house, but by the time I made it outside with a flashlight and broomstick, ...

  2. LB log - 20120402

Long day is over. One thing I've noticed with the door greeter reposition is that the electric carts which the invalids use have nobody to tend to them, which is leading to more of them running out of power more frequently. I'm quite sure that anyone within range is getting an earful from the people who come to the store and are essentially paralyzed because the store doesn't have a cart for them. On the subject - I've often wondered as I see these customers come into the store, "Where were ...

  3. Arcade Appreciation April #2 - Cadash

by , 03 Apr 2012 at 12:12 AM (PepsimanVsJoe talks about random games.)
The rarest genre to be found in an arcade is the RPG. Even variants such as the Action-RPG are typically non-existent. The reasons why that is are quite obvious. In 1989 Taito took a chance and developed one of the few action-RPGs for the arcades. While there isn't any way to save your game and the adventure will take less than an hour, the basic ideas are in place. You choose from four different classes and go through five stages. Along the way you'll access shops that sell both equipment and items, ...

  4. Arcade Appreciation April #1 - Twin Cobra

by , 02 Apr 2012 at 11:19 AM (PepsimanVsJoe talks about random games.)
You may recall the beginning of Dodonpachi. The first sign of adversity is a battalion of harmless tanks that you cut through with a massive laser. This is not only satisfying in the visceral sense but if you're a fan of Toaplan you'll realize that hey, you've finally moved on. Tanks are no longer a threat right? Okay sure you're still liable to get killed by a bullet and it may be one that came from a tank. However now that you're in the Danmaku/Bullethell/???? age your immediate worry is more ...

  5. LB log - 20120401

Today I decided to sell my controller and take up playing Pokemon. ... nothing? Well, I tried.

I originally wasn't on the scheudle tomorrow at the retail job, despite having shifted my availability a few weeks ago. Ask the new shift manager about it and now I'm thrown on tomorrow's schedule with a 7AM start, which I have had the luxury of not doing in some time. Oh boy, I can't wait for 7AM on a Monday there.

I neglected to play High yesterday, so I'll be getting to ...

All right, that's another Saturday at retail down. I count my blessings for getting through each one without injuring myself or others.

I've resumed my form development in earnest for the 1120 series, but that might be short lived to take care of a few more clients before the tax season is up.

    10th Style in EX first.

  7. LB log - 20120330

I put a heating pad down on my desk, for the intent of the cat to lay on it so that he doesn't lay on my covered laptop keyboard. Seems to be working at the moment. Let's see if I can get away with it for a session here.

One thing which I'll do now, since I took the ten seconds to figure out a good way to do so, is to put a percentage and letter grade result with the entires. It'll help pad things out and make it look like I do more, plus that information is relatively important for ...

  8. LB log - 20120329

New soundcard is in! Even better, I was able to install it and have it operational without any aggravation at all. Put in, power on, download drivers, reboot, done. I was bracing for a struggle in light of the fact that compatibility with Windows 7 seems to be a major nagging point with sound cards now. The worst part, such as it was, is that I had to play with settings to get it off of this weird super-echo stadium like setting which I don't recall toggling but was there never the less. Once that ...

  9. LB log - 20120328

Today's intended dinner was grilled hamburgers, but nobody realized in time that we were out of charcoal. Oh well. I also purchased some Astroglide for use on my treadmill belt - I'm quite sure that the $8 I spent there will last substantially longer than what I would have to spend comparatively with the company who made that bullshit lube kit. I made a point to have the item paid for at a registered tended by an old immigrant woman. I really didn't feel like explaining what my intended use with ...

  10. Dynasty Warriors 2

Sometimes I feel like the Benjamin Button of gaming. I have this compulsion to play a game series in sequential order that keeps me from, say, playing Dynasty Warriors Next on the Vita without playing every musou game ever made first.

First off, why would I want to play DW Next, you ask? Simple: it's on the Vita, and I love that system. I have real feelings for it. You have no right to judge me. I want to play every game that even approaches respectability on the system because ...
  11. LB log - 20120327

I have some returns resolved and will undertake the actual filing procedures tonight, after this. Once nice thing about my intended career, a trend which I hope continues as the years advance, is that I never have to leave my house to get the actual work done. Land travel is a long way from becoming inexpensive again. Speaking of tax returns, I had to call the IRS recently about Form 851, because the XSD file associated with it has content laid out in a way which seems to have several data points ...

  12. LB log - 20120326

The cat has a routine established with me where he wants me to use a cat wand to play with him. He'll bring the wand over and drop it by me and squeak at me (he doesn't have a very loud voice). If I don't respond, he'll keep going and going and eventually start poking at me with his claws through the chair I'm sitting at now. When I have heard enough and go play, he'll chase the toy down and eventually get it, at which point he'll return to my empty chair and drop the toy for me to move it again, ...

I'm still not 100% satisfied with the sync I have with LB. I've just tried out several of the video options and I am not very happy with how the audio matches with the visual response. The experience is very different when the game is in HD mode or not, too - something about it makes it display very differently in terms of color vibrancy and refresh, the former of which at least I wouldn't have expected with the change.

After much deliberating I will return to the lowest rest HD, ...

  14. LB log - 20120324

The wife's coworker's machine had 512MB of RAM inside the box, using two of four slots. DDR3200 chips are antiquated enough to keep me from buying some off of the shelf at a store, for $35 per 1GB chip. Not terrible, but I'm betting that she doesn't have $70 on the ready so I'll be expecting to take the payment in weekly installments.

Between working on that and some tax research, I have another late start here, so let's get going already.

    Still in 6th Style.

  15. LB log - 20120323

Managed to not have to work in rain for most of the day. I also get to look into sprucing up a computer being used by one of my wife's coworkers. I've seen the machine before and it was typical low end emachine junk, but she didn't do anything beyond normal Internet use so I wouldn't think that to be a big deal. She informs my wife today that her PC has "run out of virtual memory". What a catastrophe. I hope the nearby CompUSA has RAM which is ancient enough for her machine to use. Yesterday ...
