Something that I forgot to mention yesterday is that in the course of updating to the 2012 Form 1120 series, I have encountered a few forms which were made in the new PDF style in 2011. This means that updating the forms for 2012 was as simple as deleting the cells in the 2012 form and copying everything over from the 2011 set, then verify all is in proper place to finish. It's rather nice, and will just go to show that it is worthwhile for me to do continue to move on with the updating to the 2012 ...

I had a one-ring call wake me at 9AM today, which turns out to have been fortunate enough as I had the opportunity to take my wife out for her lunch from work. Since this was originally supposed to be the last time that we would have had this chance in a while, we went to the pancake house to enjoy some omelets. Spinach and feta for me, hers the same with additional mushroom and tomato bits.

A new response came from the IRS about the consolidated return, which basically just reiterated ...

I went to sleep last night without doing any further work or exercise. The cat nested between my legs as I laid by my wife to see her to sleep, and I didn't fight against it once he settled in. I seem to have needed the rest.

Slept until 1PM. Made a point to call IRS about the email that I sent six days ago, and quickly got a confirmation that the email was received. The person who received the call seemed to be a bit confused as to what to do after I received that affirmation. Yes, please make a note that I called. I completed the 2012 Form 2290 test submissions after dinner, so that'll be ready to go starting tomorrow. I might have to make a call about that to notify IRS that I have made those submissions. I'll have ...

Since I've gotten back into doing exercise sets on my work days for the moment, today I'll do so at the hour so that I can catch Joe Frank on NPR. It's been a long time since I've tuned in. Here's hoping it's something I haven't heard before.

That leaves me with little time to do much else besides that and preparing for work at the unusal start time of 730 AM.

Songs felt rather good to play today. It was nice to have that streak of three increases.

I did some tax form work while using the NHL page to listen to some hockey through a radio broadcast, and I found myself oddly able to foucs more intently on doing the gruntwork of manually renaming fields and the like. I wonder if it's just the change from the usual silence that I work in which makes it a novelty. I'll need to try doing some work with something like ocean noises running in a long loop or the like to see if there's a similar effect. I don't think I'll want to integrate normal music ...

Today's retail work highlight is coming across an elderly woman just as she arrived in the parking lot who summarily flagged me down for assistance. She needed help loading ten boxes of kitty litter into the cart for return. She had just had her cat put down. It was sixteen years old. The vet's papers were still in her hands as she told me this through broken English and tears. The only thing I managed to say was "That means that the cat had a good life, and it was good for you to do that." ...

Most of my day was spent in getting Form 1118 revised or the 2012 year. I shudder to think of how long this would take me if I were to map out the entire form, rather than just Schedules A through C (which I'm choosing to do because that's the extent of the form used in the test scenario). The good news is that the new form style yet again prevents the process of altering the form from becoming a bloated crash inducing mess. My final 2011 Form 1118 had a size of 5.5 MB, and my 2012 Form weighs in ...

This USPS study guide book is somewhat depressing, in that it has rather unprofessional writing and, at times, flat out wrong grammar.

Before that kind of content is encountered, though, there is a ten page preamble which gives a history of the US Postal Service, which goes from the British Colony roots to the Pony Express, then jumping from there right to the 1960s. The examination itself covers none of this, so I have no idea why this content is even included.

The call came in today from the yodle service about my mobile "adversite". It looks like that I'm in contract with them for three months. Another strange thing that happened is that they registered a domain name for me and settled on one that included the word "accountant". I'm rather sure that I made it clear in any conversation that I had with them that my position as an Enrolled Agent didn't make me an accountant, and that I didn't have a CPA title, so my service in respect ...

I received a response from the IRS about the issue I raised with the parsing of a 1120 consolidated return, and the statement was not encouraging. I say this because they essentially reaffirmed that the processing of the return mainly applies to the consolidated return itself; compounding the uselessness of the response, they list off the document count attributes which they found in the return:

Consolidated Return - 43
Parent Return - 150
Subsidiary Return 1 - 120

...

Starting at 9AM meant that I was playing catchup throughout the day.

The big surprise awaited for me at the end of the shift. I may have mentioned here that I used a U-bar bike lock, which had a key mechanism. The first one that I had purchased eventually became very resistant to accepting the key, but I noticed that the key itself got bent out of shape. I figured it was because I kept it in my front pocket while at work and resolved to get a new similar lock but keep the key off ...

Tomorrow I don't start work until 9AM, which puts me in a circumstance this evening which I haven't been in for some time. I actually have the chance to exercise tonight, if I desired, and I honestly should do so, given that I'm not working the usual long hours at this time.

The weather forecast for today gave a strong chance of rain at about 2PM when I last looked at the hourly readout, and 330PM is when it decided to show up. By that point I figured that the rain was coming to stay ...

My wife's work shift starts at 5AM and is scheduled to end at 2PM. Sometimes things run over, but even a difference of twenty minutes is enough to impact her mood and spirits after her duty. She didn't get out until 415PM today.

I think I'm ready to test the 2012 Form 2290 series now. I have the 2290, Schedule 1, and header all set, and those are basically the only pieces of the puzzle. I suppose I should get some test data ready, but I think for the remainder of the night I'll want ...
