  1. Old PSMs, Game Informer....from 1997!

I love going to thrift stores, which takes up a lot of my weekends. I love shopping in general, but shopping at thrift stores always yields the strangest finds. This last weekend, I found a huge lot of old video game magazines. That's not too rare in itself, usually you can find a few GamePros and things like that sitting around. This lot was strange though, the PSM magazines went back to issue #1, from 1997. I sat in the thrift store for about 45 minutes, looking through all these old issues, old ...

  2. How to Get Rid of an Unwanted Roommate Part 2

    Continued from Part 1

    The Five Stages of Grief

In 1969, Elisabeth Kübler-Ross outlined what she described as the five stages of grief. Jess, as if she had a checklist, went through each in cartoonishly exaggerated fashion.

The first stage of grief is denial. Jess arrived home that night at about 6:45 PM, to find the doors locked. I was on the other side of town at the time. She called me, threatened to call the police, and hung up. Immediately after, ...

  3. How to Get Rid of an Unwanted Roommate Part 1

It’s been a trying couple of weeks.

For the last year and change, I’ve been living in a large six-bedroom house, with six other people, mostly musicians and other creative types, which I’ve generally found to be a great situation. One roommate in particular, a 28 year-old waitress and aspiring photographer named Jess, has slowly become a problem for the house, with more roommates finding themselves avoiding the common areas of our home on her account.

    This began back ...

  4. Knights of the Round

Replaying the arcade version of this on the PS2 Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 2.

I never saw it anywhere in the arcades back in the day, but I rented it at least three or four times on the SNES. Never could beat it on the SNES, with the limited continues and two-player support (arcade version allows for 3 players).

What a bitch this game is to beat. ...

  5. Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 Part 6: Done.

The warrior struggled hard, but through his hardship he finally reached the top of the mountain. He had obtained the victory that he fought so hard to earn, yet all he could do was sit and shed a tear for the journey was now over.
I don't know where that quote comes from. I heard it from my cousin years ago and it's something that has always stuck with me. Sometimes the excitement in life is the anticipation of an event, not the event itself.

Not so with Sonic the ...

  6. Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 Part 5: Shadow the Hedgehog Part 2 & Final Episode Part 1

The urge to simply type, "Fuck, fuck, fuck~!" is extremely high, but I'll do this proper.

Following the epic of entries 1, 2, 3, and 4, we are now on part 5 of this mess.

    Fuck, fuck, fuck~!

    Paint the world with tweets.

Another day, another play session of Sonic 2006. Let's see about finishing off Shadow's episode today.
It's good to see the Silver fight is even less balanced with Shadow. Well done, @Sega.

  7. Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 Part 4: Shadow the Hedgehog Part 1

The continuing tragedy continues, since part 1, 2, and 3 just weren't enough.

I was hoping to finish Shadow's episode within a day and just compile a single entry, just like I had with Silver. Unfortunately for Shadow, he's not Silver. No, our spunky black hedgehog is still hanging onto his "be like Sonic, but with bruting instead of attitude!" dynamic like it's 2001 and, well, I think I may be getting ahead of myself...

Since Twitter seemed to have lost ...

  8. Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 Part 3: Silver the Hedgehog

Since I already blogged about this, not just once, but twice, I figure I might as well keep blogging until I wrap this game up and call it done.

I'll get my tweets out of the way first,

Day 3 of playing Sonic 2006. Started Silver's episode. Silver is actually a lot of fun to play as. So is Blaze.
"That took too long!" complains Silver at the end of an annoying boss fight. "Couldn't agree more." I reply in my head.

  9. Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 Part 2

I wrote about my starting adventures in Sonic 2006 yesterday. At the end of last night, I put the disc back into the case and assumed the next person to feel it's wrath would be Mzo.
Today, my curiosity got the better of me. "How much worse can this actually get?" I kept thinking. "I'm already 30% in! How long could it take to wrap this up!?" also crept into my head.

Once again, I'll let my tweets do most of the talking...

    Oh, Blaze, how

  10. Where to next?

Long story short, I am waiting to hear back about a job at the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops. Notification about acceptance to said job is supposed to be by November 26, and I have yet to be contacted about an interview, so i am starting to fear I may not have gotten the job. Though I may be a little premature in my doubt and fear, I am beginning to feel the stress of trying to figure out exactly what am I going to do with my life next.

Ok, so not so much long story short, but I ...

  11. Sonic the Hedgehog 2006

I picked up the 2006 Sonic the Hedgehog on clearance for the Xbox 360 yesterday. This is the same Sonic game that was pretty much slammed by everyone as being one of the worse games ever made and for having realistic-princess on cartoon-hedgehog action.

Having just played Sonic Adventure on XBLA and still really digging it (faults and all), I couldn't imagine that this game was as horrible as I had heard before. A bit strange? Maybe. Funky art style? Sure. But godawful as people have ...

  12. So...It was my birthday...

Nov 14 i turned a ripe 31.. decent birthday. Had the day off from work. Got to sleep in. But it wasnt as nice as i would have liked it. For one i was broke as fuck. So the steak dinner i was looking forward too didn't happen. I had glorious subway...Watched a mediocre comedy in Due Date. Wasnt bad but wasnt the shit either. The dog had a better time on my birthday than me, she got to run around a park like she didn't give a fuck. I came back home, didn't dinner even though i was willing to cook ...

  13. A Lions Tale: Being a fan of a horrible franchise

After another loss of a game that slipped away from the grasp of the win column, I thought why am I still passionate about a team that hasn't been relevant since before the NFC Central became the NFC North, which is over ten years. I originally became a fan because my father is from Michigan and after seeing some highlights of Barry Sanders early in his career, I immediately thought the guy was awesome.

It all started to fall apart after the Wayne Fontes years, what happened after ...
