Christmas gifts in, Christmas cards out (and a few of those received too), cold temperatures in, snow out (and that all flips this coming weekend I guess), and so on. Nothing surprising there on any front. Rather than try to continue playing Atelier Elie, I decided to start up a game of Black/Matrix +. I never finished this PS1 take of the game, and after hearing some of the soundtrack while on the job lately it compelled me to start that up while it's fresh in the mind. The very ...
Poor weather promises to come tonight, and the radar shows the badness coming. I hope they're going to be OK with me moving three trailers in the course of the night, unless conditions permit otherwise. Meanwhile, I'm in a hurry to post here as usual. I need to check on something about my wife's medical insurance, with a complication arising from my insurance soon to be covering her. It'll be a very good thing to have that resolved. Christmas shopping annoyance is basically over in ...
Rather than try to correct myself to my old time patterns of sleep, I stuck with the change throughout this week. This means that when I get home from work, I immediately brush my teeth and go to bed. The results are pretty welcome. I don't wake up to an alarm, I get more sleep if I need it, I don't spend more time doing nothing with looking at bullshit online, and I have more time available to do things in the day if I need to, such as communicate with businesses. Doing this has turned out to be ...
Well, let this be a lesson to myself to stop giving in to the whims of sleep on days off. Stop it. Please. Today will hurt. The headaches of mortgaging is reaching an apex here. This has been delayed for a very long time, so it's not a surprise, but there are some short time frames hanging over head which is going to make for an interesting coming weekend. Earlier in the week was the other day off of work which I had, so things were shifted around to have the functional ...
Five weeks left. Due to some kind of processing mishap when it came time for me to pay the cable bill, I finally was compelled to call a person directly and subsequently set up plans to remove paper billing and set up automatic payments. All the other utilities offer ways to pay the bills online if not have the amounts automatically deducted. The cable just doesn't want to do the same, though. In making this call, I was made an offer to have the internet speed increased as well as ...
The US Presidential Election came and went between this post and the last one. I really don't have much of anything to say about it that hasn't been said a million times already. Well, that may not be entirely true, and I would make an effort to offer some kind of unique reflection about it if I had the time to do so, but I don't. My job is a union shop, and once you pass probation, it is mandatory to join it. I signed myself into one for the first time in my life today. Hooray. ...
It's Saturday again? Phew. I was specifically asked to come in for a sixth this week, so I did. Unlike other times, I did have a full shift come in doing it, so that should translate to a good check. For the day off, I switched things up a bit in order to go to the arcade early in the day rather than the usual night time visit. The wait between rounds was too long for my liking last week, so I correctly assumed that nobody would bother being there at opening time instead. To do this ...
Already 940AM? Drat. There were lots of little incidents throughout the week which were mildly interesting but perhaps not so much to really require more than a sentence or two to mention, though I would like to elaborate if only I had the time to do so. A landmark burned down today. I was about a mile from directly witnessing an accident which I saw coming from how he sped past me. My wife and I went out for a celebration and an impromptu visit to the arcade proved to be worth it, as the new IIDX ...
One night I'm at G1 and asked to get something that's spotted at the side of a rail track. When hooking up to a trailer and in the process of retracting the landing gear to prepare for moving it, there are three main things which happen. One, a whine of leaking air comes from the rear of the tractor as the weight of the trailer compresses the supports. Two, the visible space between the base and feet of the landing gear shrinks. Three, the landing gear feet visibly rise up from the ground as it ...
Another countdown of the final ten weeks is here. That was fast. The good news is that I came to find out that the idea I had to strap the gladhands down to the rail chassis does indeed help to keep them attached. The bad news is that I came to this discovery by driving away from a dropped trailer without remembering to detach them, and thus completely snapped my red line in half as a result. Again, I had misfortune strike at a time and place which was more favorable than not, in ...
While company is over for the weekend and they're all elsewhere in the belief that I'm asleep, I can take the time to write this post up. Feeling pretty devilish right now. Update: It's now past dinner and they're upstairs while I take a moment to play some songs today. They're watching a show, and I can't take anymore after seeing two episodes. Musicals disturb me. There are times while working where I wonder if I'm perceived as being slow, and this thought comes from the fact that ...
My new work schedule shifts my days off to the middle of the week. I think I need to adjust these postings accordingly, because I don't even have the time to write a tiny bit about the week here otherwise when I have to be in bed within an hour or less to prepare for work later tonight. Song sessions continue to require some adjustment but at least most plays start to feel like they're at normal ability eventually, and today's session was rather good as well, considering the alternative. ...
Sorry, Yoshi. It's often said that everyone lies about driving jobs, and I guess this is no exception, but it could be worse. The only real issue about this particular one is that the days are closer to twelve hours long rather than ten. Other than that, the job has gone pretty much exactly as I have come to expect from the initial training days. It's pretty amazing how one hour melts into the next as you just follow the orders along and do as told. A main issue beyond their description ...
After months of fascination but procrastination, I got a deal on an ultrawide, 21:9 monitor that I could not refuse. These were the results from day one: Taito Eidos seems to be the preeminent Japanese publisher in support for 21:9, though that may be more due to their Eidos legacy than their Taito and less important ones. ...
First full week of work is at an end, and I'm glad to report having done so safely. Otherwise at this very moment I'm extremely tired and ready to pass out where I sit. Being sick this whole week probably doesn't help matters. If I have time to do so, perhaps I'll write more stuff here. Despite the week's disease at hand, home sessions were basically OK. Lunar Beat. Extra Mode. Double play. "@" denotes Random chart modifier. All songs are of ...
