Today's highlight is my work day. It went well. Everything went on time, I drove past a wicked car fire on the way down, I was able to set up a makeshift PC speaker rig around my seat that worked well enough to use and hear the ipod. On the way back, I tried out the 5 Hour Energy Drink and I have to say that I'm quite pleased with how it worked (assuming that it was what worked); the effect wasn't instantaneous but after a bit I simply felt as alert as I did at the start of the day. This was the sensation despite my body waking up before the alarm. Traffic was very light at the end of the return, and I was out at the earliest time that I managed for the week. Swell.

Then I came home.

I was pulled over a block away from my house. There's a crack in my windshield that runs along the bottom and has been there for years, and I never bothered to replace it because it's not in the field of vision. Apparently it's a ticketable offense regardless. I also had expired registration on the plates, and I didn't even notice that situation as I never made a renewal (and upon subsequent inspection at home, don't seem to have a renewal notification anywhere). I also have been gambling on something for some time and came up with the loss at this point (I'll let you figure this out). 200 for a new windshield, 100 for citations, 100 or more for sticker renewal (depending on what happens if I indeed have no notice on hand), and I'll need to get that last point resolved as well. Seeing as how our livelihood depends on me having the license, I can't play that game anymore.

So goes the work week.
