The Minibosses, a pretty good 8-bit/NES coverband is playing at Alex's Bar in Long Beach at 9pm on July 5th. It's like $8 cover at the door and the place is...intimate, so expect it to fill relatively quick. Although a pretty nice venue for local bands, how Minibosses heard of it, or how Alex's heard of them is downright weird.

Maybe it has to do with the bar being a location for that show True Blood. True story - friend of mine showed me an episode where they're supposed to be at some night/strip club, but it's just Alex's Bar. At least that's the feeling from the past few years. Post graduation I go out less, earn less money, still don't own a car, and by proxy look to the bright side: less excuses to not be drawing.

Except for videogames. There's always that excuse.

Lately I've been doing a series of Super Street Fighter 4 postcards. Each one tries to be themed according to background pattern, motif, and theme. Like Ken's constant "SHORYUKEN" in the background, or Dudley's awesome tea kettle frame. It's fun, gives me a reason to use my love for games in art, and keeps me busy.

I've also had some work show up in a few galleries in LA which is cool. Although a friend told me about one in Long Beach that's more open, more art-fair oriented, and closer! All you do is bring a table, stuff for sale, and set up shop. Maybe when I have some more print-worthy stuff together (and a table!)
