I only read you're in NYC. If you're here and bored meet up with TNLers and be bored together imo.

Nah, we informed her of her error and she did better after that. Things can only improve from 0%!

I'll write about her child one of these days soon I think. I've already ranted plenty at the channel.

It's not that bad. I like playing games more than beating them.

The whammy bar might as well be the "Shiny Red Button". Did she give up?

Around a year ago my wife's friend was over at our place and we introduced her to Rock Band.

The woman is in her early 30's, which pegs her as having grown up squarely in the generation when MTV exploded into culture. Her, my wife, and everyone else in America grew up watching people play guitars, more or less. This woman also works at contemporary rock radio station, so she's around music all the time and grew up being around music all the time. She grew up in the generation which watched people play guitars, pantomimed air-guitar playing, and so on.

We're explaining to her how the guitar works in the game, and how you need to hold the fret and strum as the notes cross. She presses the whammy bar up and down a few times and asks "What does this do?". To keep things simple, we tell her to not worry about it and that she won't need to use it.

We play one song and the guitar part is mysteriously absent from the performance. I subsequently ask her if she was in fact pushing the strum bar up and down as the notes crossed the bar on the screen.

As it turns out, she was holding the right fret correctly with the notes. However, she wasn't strumming. Rather, she depressed the whammy bar each time a note crossed the line on the screen.

I didn't really like any of the Toy Stories. I get why people do...and why they are out there and all, I'm just not really interested in them.

I can kind of understand not liking Toy Story 2, like if your mom had a heart attack and died shortly after you watched the movie and you can't watch Toy Story 2 without associating it with your mom being dead. If you sat through Toy Story 3 and all you can think about was how much it cost you and how the 3D didn't shit your pants and how people make movies for money instead of making movies to talk about how sad they are on the inside, man, you're too old for your britches. All that's left for you are films about Phillip Seymour Hoffman crying because he can't accept that he's fat and gay.

I enjoyed TS1 and TS2, but really haven't thought much about them. They are good movies but the internet makes too much out of them.

It's a very competent film put together by incredibly talented people, but they ran out of things to say in this universe after movie 1, and since then they have been trying to shoehorn content into this world, which is the serial problem with sequels. A fun enough ride but far short of Toy Story 1.
So you've never let something you love go, thought about mortality, or had friends to get you through a tough time?

I'm not saying those were the main themes of TS3, but they were apparent.

If there's ever a time when you really need to finish a game there is always emu, and if you crave the firsthand experience it's surprisingly cheap to get older gear in enough of a working order to get it done. Also I'm sure there are ten people you know with nes's that can help you out. Almost everyone between the ages of 25-40 has one. Even people you don't expect.

Oh and you should totally have tapped that.

The most fun I had with it was how deep the homages to Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and other marvelous film series ran. Many of the tributes to genre films were not so overt as to make me cringe, but rather smile wryly.

I just feel that playing a sport "for reals" with your friends and family might be a better investment in time. I want to play catch with my son with a real ball and mitt. Not an Xbox controller.
