  1. LB log - 2016 Week 11

The story is that there has been a few retirements at the GM PDC, and that their replacements are in the middle of training right now and won't be fully working until the end of the month. This means that I get my freight later every day. This means everyone gets their freight later every day. My intended dispatch is 2330, and on a late day I'd roll out at 0030 or so at worst. There's been two days this week where I didn't leave the hub until 0120.

    I also had a breakdown yesterday. ...

  2. LB log - 2016 Week 10

I'd take the time to write more but I told my mother that I would be over at their place to help with some clean up project and my wife has already been called to ask where I'm at (as my mother still has no idea when or if I will answer my own phone). So, on that note.

Pretty long week for work. Freight came in late every day and long story short about my tractor situation, I had to use another machine because the one which had come back from repairs and intended for my use had electrical ...

  3. LB log - 2016 Week 09

After being in the shop for repairs the entire time from the first snowfall and its related incident until today, the former tractor which I had used at that point made its triumphant return. Based on appearances of the body and grill, one would possibly mistake it for being a completely new machine. Familiar sensations rushed to me as I got in and sank into the seat. I then turned the key in the ignition and click. Click. Click. Was it in gear accidentally? No. Try again. Click. Click. I usually ...

  4. LB log - 2016 Week 08

My employer recently changed their health care provider, so we received notifications of new open enrollment in the mail this week. If I were to keep my same levels of coverage as well as include my wife in the coverage, I would have had to pay at least an additional $130 per week. Given current bills, this means that I would have reached a point of breaking even through the course of a week's income against expenses. A minimum 65 hour work week just to stay afloat. Needless to say, I was quite ...

  5. LB log - 2016 Week 07

Get good, he says. OK dude, you win.

My sister gave birth to her second daughter this previous Monday. I should make a point to see if I can drop by for a visit sometime this weekend to see her in person. The labor was induced as a precaution on account of some kind of virus which was contracted; she was scheduled as due within another week anyway so it wasn't a major point of concern to anyone and I haven't heard of any problems to have arisen from it.

    This has been ...

  6. LB log - 2016 Week 06

I've felt it in my thighs at last, as I've gone from stop to stop in the prior week. I was getting flabby. I've never been a picture of health, but if there's been any part of my body that is arguably in shape, it would be my legs. Thanks to the exercise routine which I used to have and the time pushing carts years ago as a work related contrast, my thighs and calves have remained to be pretty solid throughout all this time. Time finally caught up to them. I realized that I had to get back into ...

  7. LB log - 2016 Week 05

Last Sunday sucked. Emotions got the better of me at the start and it affected the remainder of my day. So much for my day of rest.

My W2 finally arrived yesterday. Despite only working the new route for eight months of the year, my income was enough to surpass what my wife and I combined to earn in the last year that she (well, we) were at retail. Beyond this, there's not much else to report. Work was typical and that leaves little time for me to do anything else other than play ...

  8. LB log - 2016 Week 04

Work. I called in an issue with what was presumed to be the transmission on Saturday morning with the intent of it being fixed on Monday in the daytime so that it would be ready for use before the work week began at Monday evening. The repair didn't go in until the next day. In the meantime until today I had to use one of the automatic tractors again, and after doing so for the past three days then resuming use of the manual machine today, I can say I'm glad to have returned to the latter. The automatics ...

  9. LB log - 2016 Week 03

I had a friend come with me to the arcade last Sunday. It was nice to have someone to talk with on the ride. I haven't had that privilege in some time.

My wife drew this ( https://twitter.com/Ammosart/status/687365297909575681 ) for my birthday and had it printed on a metallic sheet. It looks nice, and I'm glad to see she's continued the long standing tradition of making a new work to commemorate a game being recently played or beaten. I was hoping she would do something for this ...

  10. LB log - 2016 Week 02

In light of my dour mood last weekend and seeing it mentioned so much recently, my wife took it upon herself to spontaneously buy Bloodborne for me that Saturday. After letting the install and patches go through, I sat down to play it and lasted a few hours until I reached the point where I stopped moving, stared at the screen, asked "Why am I doing this?" out lout to myself, found no answer to the question, and shut the game down. The disc is on its way to a new owner now. I've had a ...

  11. LB log - 2016 Week 01

Sorry guys, I still like keeping track of my scores.

There was a second family gathering this week, held in lieu of having that entire side of the family be around with my Dad's side. That or they had prior obligations to be elsewhere otherwise, and that would probably be a likely case as well. Either way, plans were made for them to attend a Christmas-like dinner, and they did. I didn't, though, because unfortunately it was held on Thursday and not Friday; this meant that I couldn't ...

  12. LB log - 2015 Week 52

I'm about three quarters of the way through David Maraniss's book about Detroit and I come upon this passage:
Rush H. Limbaugh of Cape Giradeau, Missouri, father of a future right-wing radio talk show host, who said that his community "prided itself of the fact that it never allowed a Negro to live in it and no Negro had lived there permanently."
And it's just one line of several in which I see new connections from the past going to the present and I just can't shake the ...

  13. LB log - 2015 Week 51

Hooray for cooperative weather, as that has certainly played a role in this week of work transpiring without any major incident. The dealerships are definitely doing their part to ensure that they have ample stock on hand for the heart of the season regardless. I suppose the additional sleep and non-work time remains to be the other major contributing factor to an entire week without incident. One down, a lifetime to go.

Some days, my progress with Japanese learning feels like it ...

  14. LB log - 2015 Week 50

Work started out two hours late on the first day of the week. I glided along from one stop to the next in something of a dull haze. I wasn't angry. I wasn't rushing things. There was no way to be done on a good time. I just resolved to be patient, operate as normal, and show up to work later the next day. Unfortunately, I committed an error on the second to last stop and got in a scrape against a parked car. It lost. Nobody responded with any kind of particular anger or vitriol and if anything just ...

  15. LB log - 2015 Week 49

On a global scale, this week sure did suck, didn't it.

My personal work week wasn't too great either, but that's mostly just due to work volume. There were no catastrophes to speak of, so relatively I honestly don't have much to complain about there.

For the sake of something frivolous to talk about, I finished doing something today which has actually made my home IIDX sessions immediately better. Long story short, I have completed the replacement of the switches and ...
