  1. cool story bro - Chapter II

There was a place I used to hang out with a few other people. Technically I stayed as a roommate with the guy who owned the place for a few months but what I'm writing about happened after I had come and gone on those terms.

At one point he had a big black cat that always wanted to get outside of the house, and once it did, the guy never let the cat back into the house. While not outwardly abusive, I think it's accurate to say that he wasn't exactly the best pet owner. I was at the ...
  2. cool story bro - Chapter I

One of the houses I lived at as a child had a driveway which had a pair of shrubs lining the sides. They were mostly a slender rectangular shape of a few feet in height and length with a slimmer width. These kind of bushes turned out to be great places for bees and wasps to build nests.

So I was like 8 or 9 at the time and was playing out in the front yard where the bushes are and there's a nest in the bush which would be on your right side if you were to pull into the driveway. Despite ...
  3. Cruise Control

For the first time in more than a year the wife and I took on a road trip to visit one of her friends. The use of Cruise Control is something which I totally rejected in my earlier driving years but now I find it indispensable - you don't stress your legs over time and you don't have to constantly pay attention to whether you're too far beyond the speed limit or not. I only wish I would have embraced this technology sooner, because I probably wouldn't have ever had a speeding ticket otherwise. ...

  4. Ebert vs. video games part II

So Ebert has a new blog post in the continuing saga of the debate of if a video game is not art. I wrote this reply on the place where I read the news article:

    ---

Ebert's newest post doesn't change the two main points I have whenever this topic comes up:

    1) I don't think that an actual video game in and of itself is art.
    2) I don't care if a video game is art or not.

Most people call the act of playing a video game a hobby. ...

  5. Jet Set Radio is ten years old

Just a friendly reminder from the "You Will Die Soon" department.

If the Search index wasn't dead I'd see about finding a thread about the game. I would think there would be one here at some point.

  6. C.O.S.

So there's a new movie out starring that queer that had a jumping orgasm on Oprah's couch that one time. Reviews for it come as every other movie to all the usual spots, among which is the Onion's AV Club.

They have a comment section for all articles posted and sure enough some threads of discussion come up about his involvement in Hubbard's Cult. With the wonder of the Internet I really shouldn't be surprised - but, nevertheless, I am - that there are some people who defend the Cult ...

  7. My cousin and Facebook

I have a cousin -I'll refer to her as Amy - who is a few years younger than myself (I'm currently 30, so I think she's 28) and is basically the second eldest person in the bracket of the family's generation; out of all siblings and cousins interrelated through my parents and their siblings, I'm the eldest, this cousin would be the second eldest, my sister behind her, and so on. This is the order which I grew up believing. However, about ten years ago, I came to discover that this wasn't the truth ...

  10. lol irc

Congratulations on the successful upgrade. Good to see that our posts from 2002 shall still live on.

I'd also like to thank all the people for showing up last night on IRC and would like to politely point out that there is a TNL chatroom which does exist the other 364 days of the year. As opposed to #thenextlevel it is titled #tnl. Join and make maruchan happy and give joust someone new to bitch at or with.
