  1. LB log - 2016 Week 02

In light of my dour mood last weekend and seeing it mentioned so much recently, my wife took it upon herself to spontaneously buy Bloodborne for me that Saturday. After letting the install and patches go through, I sat down to play it and lasted a few hours until I reached the point where I stopped moving, stared at the screen, asked "Why am I doing this?" out lout to myself, found no answer to the question, and shut the game down. The disc is on its way to a new owner now. I've had a ...

  2. LB log - 2016 Week 01

Sorry guys, I still like keeping track of my scores.

There was a second family gathering this week, held in lieu of having that entire side of the family be around with my Dad's side. That or they had prior obligations to be elsewhere otherwise, and that would probably be a likely case as well. Either way, plans were made for them to attend a Christmas-like dinner, and they did. I didn't, though, because unfortunately it was held on Thursday and not Friday; this meant that I couldn't ...

  3. LB log - 2015 Week 52

I'm about three quarters of the way through David Maraniss's book about Detroit and I come upon this passage:
Rush H. Limbaugh of Cape Giradeau, Missouri, father of a future right-wing radio talk show host, who said that his community "prided itself of the fact that it never allowed a Negro to live in it and no Negro had lived there permanently."
And it's just one line of several in which I see new connections from the past going to the present and I just can't shake the ...

  4. LB log - 2015 Week 51

Hooray for cooperative weather, as that has certainly played a role in this week of work transpiring without any major incident. The dealerships are definitely doing their part to ensure that they have ample stock on hand for the heart of the season regardless. I suppose the additional sleep and non-work time remains to be the other major contributing factor to an entire week without incident. One down, a lifetime to go.

Some days, my progress with Japanese learning feels like it ...

  5. LB log - 2015 Week 50

Work started out two hours late on the first day of the week. I glided along from one stop to the next in something of a dull haze. I wasn't angry. I wasn't rushing things. There was no way to be done on a good time. I just resolved to be patient, operate as normal, and show up to work later the next day. Unfortunately, I committed an error on the second to last stop and got in a scrape against a parked car. It lost. Nobody responded with any kind of particular anger or vitriol and if anything just ...

  6. LB log - 2015 Week 49

On a global scale, this week sure did suck, didn't it.

My personal work week wasn't too great either, but that's mostly just due to work volume. There were no catastrophes to speak of, so relatively I honestly don't have much to complain about there.

For the sake of something frivolous to talk about, I finished doing something today which has actually made my home IIDX sessions immediately better. Long story short, I have completed the replacement of the switches and ...

  7. LB log - 2015 Week 48

A single day off in the middle of the week feels rather strange for this job. It is a welcome reprieve regardless.

Meanwhile, my one uncle's family which includes five children (the elder female at 12 and four younger boys who are all six and up) were over at my parent's place today for a recognized Thanksgiving feast as well as a way to commemorate my Dad's birthday. I got roped into play duty for them and was summarily assaulted for two hours straight. What joy.

    I ...

  8. LB log - 2015 Week 47

I have little to say because winter hit the roads during the night and in the course of doing the route I managed to get a solid jackknife occur while exiting off of an Interstate. I was able to both walk and drive away, and do so rather quickly thanks to a towtruck making a coincidental passby right afterwards. Regardless, the event left me pretty frazzled and doing the rest of the route did not help my mood. There were several ditched cars and trucks on the roads.

    Song sessions ...

  9. LB log - 2015 Week 46

    Run like hell.

First thing's first - I have no good response to the Paris terrorist attack.

The 12 pack bottle box of Soylent arrived in time for me to consume two bottles of it this week. One day had me handle cages and engine returns to the very end and resulted in me being home by 100PM. The next day, I was stuck on an Interstate for an hour while I was two miles away from my next exit. The stoppage occurred in the middle of the night and there was a trail of trucks ...

  10. LB log - 2015 Week 45

Politics depresses me. TPP depresses me. In the course of this week, the choice has been presented so starkly to me that I loathe to even bring it up - be ignorant or be suicidal. Really, what's worse? Knowing precisely how bad things are going to get and how helpless most of us are to do anything about it, or turning a blind eye to it all just to have the head filled with chatter about topics which are even more pointless to discuss. The choices for discussion on radio are politics, movie/TV bullshit, ...

  11. LB log - 2015 Week 44

I've been rather absent minded at work this week. It's very irritating, and I'm quite sure that there's a lot of aggravation and venting which I don't get to directly face and instead are directed towards the receptionists back at the hub, if at all. Some days I just won't be back until 1PM no matter what I do. Despite that, the work week wasn't too bad in considering that I didn't have any breakdown issues and only Monday's outbound volume was heavy. The rest of the week was pretty good.

  12. LB log - 2015 Week 43

    Another week has passed already?

If rumor becomes fact, I should finally have the initial additional stop on my route removed and have it restored to what it was originally designed to be months ago. I could use the adjustment, as it should give me at least a half hour of non-work time to my day (which is very significant), and in light of the warning which I earned after nearly blowing full through a red light (fresh rain, downhill, preceding speed change, cop at intersection causing ...

  13. LB log - 2015 Week 42

Ten weeks remain to the year.

Mom wants to talk with me about taking the Corvette out to the arcade on Sunday night. These are all things which have been discussed before, but I still have to answer her questions as to where this place is, if the neighborhood is safe, how far away it is, and so on. After reanswering these questions she responds with a line about being concerned in general because "well, no offense to you, but you're going out to where gamers are hanging out, ...

  14. LB log - 2015 Week 41

Let's just put this week in the past, shall we? Basically nothing happened which hasn't happened before, and most days were long. I'm flat out exhausted.

Home song sessions also generally sucked. Thankfully, I have the new BMS Of Fighters set, so getting first plays on those charts will be something to look forward to in the upcoming days.

Lunar Beat. Extra Mode. Double play. "@" denotes Random chart modifier. All songs are of highest difficulty type unless ...

  15. LB log - 2015 Week 40

Wednesday, I go to start my day and begin by pulling the tractor out from the parking space and find that I can barely nudge the steering wheel, as if it had no power steering enabled. It's at the start of the shift, so the quick remedy is to switch to another unit and have it called in. It's back and ready the next day, and I use it for the route and it's fine. Today, I start the day, bring it to the bay, hook up, load the trailer, and get to moving out. Despite no issue all of yesterday and today ...
