I finally got around to checking out Kill la Kill...Mako is the greatest character in anything. Ever.

I've started to dread the last few minutes of each Natsume Yujincho ep. I keep getting dust in my eyes or something.

Natsume Yujincho and Kaiba in particular look to be exactly what I was after. I'll post impressions once I've watched a bit of each. Thanks, Finchu!

Did you already see Kaiba?

Kaiba takes some trickery since there was never an NA release, but i think i'd put that at the top of any list. Kaiba is everything you want. Kaiba is everything.



Tatami Galaxy is great but it can get pretty talky. I haven't even seen Ping-Pong yet, but i'm going to watch it all next month. They're all Masaaki Yuasa and i'm pretty sure he's the best thing going on for anime right now (in a field where some great things are going on at various times). They're both on Hulu and Funimation, so they're easy to get to.

There's also Natasume Yuujinchou on Crunchy Roll. That one is another "everything" series. I'd actually recommend that right behind Kaiba.

Then i'd say Kyousogiga. It's a 6 episode series stretched into 12 episodes, but those six episodes are so good, almost good enough for how much they had to stretch that budget

Can you recommend any recent series that isn't some awful moe harem bullshit? The smarter, more offbeat and/or more depressing the better.

i taro this for his birthday and he thanked me for the birthday message and the cute drawing. he's one of the nicest game creators that uses social media

Hay Finchu, where did you find those scans? They seem like a joke at first glance (look at the heroine), but as you said, since Taro was involved anything is possible.

i don't know if this is more CAAAAAVIAAAAAA and DRAKENGAAAAARD business, but one of the things stated was that Taro wanted to make a Drakengard 4 without making a 3, so people would wonder what happened to Drag-On Dragoon 3. At least one place said that searching for the missing pieces was part of the game. That would've been really cool, and it would've been amazing if it actually made it to the market. I'm kind of surprised that Drakengard 3 got away with a couple of the little things it does and was still sold as a serious product by a serious company.




It probably met with more comparisons to Kill la Kill though! She looks like a morph of Ryuuko and Zero! i hope that was real planning and not an elaborate april fool's joke because i want to imagine it actually had a chance of happening. It does sound like something Yoko Taro would seriously do. That guy needs to be included in more video game making projects.

Yeah! I think it's a little less cruel than Drakengard 1. The main character is still killing everyone, everyone's still going to die, but as a whole the game isn't quite as hellish and inhuman, even when it is. I don't know if it's that Taro has lightened up, he was stopped from making it completely horrible, or if he just wanted to do something a little different anyway.

I was hooked pretty much the second the narrator was "interrupted" during the opening cinematic, although I haven't had much time to play it. At least in tone, it feels a lot more like a successor to Nier than it does the original Drakengard, although it's nearly as twisted as that game was already. I'm relieved that it still very much feels like a Cavia game.

Oh, and Keiichi Okabe's soundtrack is amazing.

Did you play Drakengard 3? It's going to have a pretty limited audience, and so many people will just hate it, but if it gets its claws into you it turns out to be another Nier-level experience. You have to go through every ending and might have to read all the supplemental material for it to start gelling though. I know a lot of people were left cold, even after beating the whole thing.

15 is when you start opening up some class options and can fiddle around with the job system. It's worth sticking with if only for the main scenario. I'm not so interested in the max level endgame stuff (at least not for now), but it's fun to check in every once in a while just to see what's new and run around as a Lala black mage. The game is sorta backloaded, with all the coolest stuff happening towards the end.

I'm playing FFXIV now... i don't know if i really like it! I'm going to give it a little longer though. kevin says it gets better at level 15 and i'm at level 11 now

It's okay to be cranky. I'm hoping that Compass is just taking a break and will be back.

I was tempted by the limited edition of Steins, but it was hard to justify spending $60 on some pins. I'm hoping it does well enough that Robotics;Notes makes its way over, too.

Steins;Gate is so good... I just went through the third ending and i'm sad i have to wait for a while to see the other three because of so much work due to finals

I preordered a physical copy of Steins;Gate from Jast USA. I do like visual novels, especially anything 5pb. is attached to.
