My fears were confirmed upon arrival at the job today, as the truck that I had used in the course of the week and felt like it had a loose shift stick at the end yesterday was out for repairs today. I hope I didn't directly cause the machine to be put out of service. They recommended me to use another Peterbuilt tractor on the lot, but it wasn't until I took it out and around to the trailer and attempted to hook it up that I came to realize that its fifth wheel jaws were stuck and unable to lock on the kingpin. I chose another available machine at random from those listed on the board (which means that I don't know which one I end up with until I go out to see it after choosing it), and I ended up with a double axle Sterling. I think it was the same one that I used last Saturday. I had a much easier time with it this time than the last. It helped that my first stop wasn't nearly as loaded as it was last week, but not committing errors that got me stuck in the lot of other places considerably helped the process. Despite being back by 10 I still arrived too late to see anyone else at the hub at the end of the day. I'd like to speak with people to know that everything is OK, but I suppose that if there was a problem they would have brought it up immediately or even called me in the course of the day (and they have done that before).

My niece has her first birthday. My wife and I can actually attend the party at the designated time. Hooray.
