The first person who came in to repair the elliptical machine turned out to basically scam us. The response about the parts finally came back, and the report was that he could not acquire the parts required to fix the machine. My wife sent a response asking for the part numbers which he used to search for the parts, and his response was that "there are no part numbers because the parts are no longer manufactured". Meanwhile, conveniently enough, he made mention that the receipt for his visit could be used for a discount towards another machine at two exercise equipment stores. Thanks. I rolled the dice and called another repair person in, and his verdict wasn't the same as far as what parts needed replacement. Again, he cited the machine's age in difficulty in successfully repairing it, and as of this moment the status is still in limbo, but at least this person left the machine behind in a state where I could pedal it without any resistance. Fortunately, that's enough for me to get a work out, particularly since I use leg weights in the process. Therefore, if it never does get repaired, I'll just use the machine in that manner and see about doing some kind of modification to add resistance to the pedals by myself (as in, finding a way to attach bungie cords somehow).

The tax education test which I have to complete by year's end is almost done. 200 questions and as of this moment I have 178 answered. Given how the course is administered (infinite attempts, online), I could just as easily do four passes with each letter of four selection multiple choice and magically get 100% on the fifth submission, but I'm taking the time to actually conduct proper research with this process. Then there's the question of when I'll even find time to update the individual Federal tax return e-filing forms for this year. The prospects aren't presently looking too good on that.

One interesting change to my daily schedule as result of all of this elliptical machine drama is that I've come to discover that shifting my exercise time from before work to after work seems to actually improve my general well being. My body doesn't seem quite so sore this week, and my song session scores are overall substantially better than weeks past. Perhaps actually playing the game on an arcade machine a few more hours has helped this particular aspect too.
