The entire obstacle in my way of logging into the MeF system using the newest A2A client was a setting in a small configuration file which set a location for logs to be generated. It had a predetermined location and name which didn't exist on my PC, therefore the client would crash. That's it. Now I get to see when I can even get to getting a batch of proper test returns to transmit.
With April 15 rushing forward and no foreseeable way that my delivery work hours will decrease, I have to make a choice. On one hand, I can file extensions for my Federal and state returns and stick to my intended plan. On the other, it might be less hassle and headache if I were to just file on time using other means and then simply finish the process of having the software be approved whenever that comes to pass in the near future. I'm still leaning towards the former, at least, though.
Speaking of said delivery work, the week was very inconsistent for it. I had a supervisor ride with me an entire day, and as a result I was done with the route two hours before its scheduled time. It also happened to be April 1 that morning, so I took the opportunity to surprise my wife by pretending that I was broke down and going to be late only to sneak into the house and catch her unaware. The impromptu breakfast afterward was nice. At the other end of the spectrum was today, where my liftgate ran out of battery power after the sixth of my ten stops. My choices were to call maintenance and have a repair person summoned to my location, a process which would take a few hours at least; my other choice was to work the rest of the route without the gate. I chose the latter, and I believe it actually worked out for the better. Volume was light overall and the last remaining stop I had with heavy material to unload has a forklift on site, so I actually wasn't too significantly impacted by the malfunction. It still did lead to me being 150 minutes late at the end of the route, but I know it could have been much worse had I decided to demand the repair.
Did I mention that my Dad has a Corvette now? It's a 1994 model with less than seventy thousand miles on it. It runs nicely. He was able to get it by trading his motorcycle away. Yeah, he purchased a motorcycle a few years ago for reasons beyond my comprehension, as he never had one until that point. They intend to sell it eventually, and I'm surprised to learn that it has a FMV of roughly $10,000. It is old, but it does look good and run well, so I would have thought the value would be a bit higher. However, such a sale may not be in the immediate future as Mom has stated that Dad seems to enjoy owning and driving it, and given the relative rarity in which he enjoys anything at all, it might be better for him to hang on to it. I said as much to him myself - it's a Vette, and it's in their ownership. Why not keep it?
Songs continue to be pretty enjoyable overall. At least I still have something to enjoy doing here as well. When I played Guilt & Love today, I had a suspicion that I had played it recently. It turns out that I did, a few days ago. This probably isn't the first time this kind of thing has happened.
