Wednesday, I go to start my day and begin by pulling the tractor out from the parking space and find that I can barely nudge the steering wheel, as if it had no power steering enabled. It's at the start of the shift, so the quick remedy is to switch to another unit and have it called in. It's back and ready the next day, and I use it for the route and it's fine. Today, I start the day, bring it to the bay, hook up, load the trailer, and get to moving out. Despite no issue all of yesterday and today to that point, it's only right now that the steering wheel again acts as if it has no power steering. Response from maintenance is to find another tractor to use and no further troubleshooting suggestions. I say to hell with that, perform a quick restart of the unit, and as if by magic, all is well. I roll to the first stop, make the three point back-in, deliver the freight, and start to roll out, but I notice a trail of drops on the ground which match the path that I took upon the approach. I get out and notice a puddle had formed where I had parked. I come to discover that the passenger side gas tank is leaking gas from the opening at the top, as if it was overloaded. Several stops after this I take some time to let excess fuel drain off as I go about unloading freight, and after doing this for possibly an accumulated hour does it reach a point that it no longer has an exorbitant amount to release from the tank. By this point I had determined that there was a fuel draw issue of some kind where the gas in the driver's side tank was being depleted but the passenger's tank remained unused. This condition remained until the end of the route. Hours prior to that, I received a callback from maintenance in which the attendant noted that I was using the original unit and didn't leave it at the hub. I mention the fuel line issue at that point and they make a note of it. Will it be fixed upon my return in two days? Who knows. All I can do is roll on and let one day blend into the next, as it has been for months now. Thanksgiving is less than sixty days away.

I went to use the bathroom here and came to find a dead mouse left in front of my toilet. This is the first time that I've noticed a mouse in this house of any kind, living or dead. There are a cats who live with nearby neighbors and aren't fully confined indoors, so I don't expect to see mice manage to get inside here and to this day that assumption has held true. I hope this remains to be a unique event in the future.

I didn't bother spending time to play warm up songs in sessions this week, and it shows. I definitely don't get as angry about playing poorly as I have in years past, but it still does dampen my mood. I just need to keep at it and remind myself that it doesn't matter and nobody else cares. Despite that, there is a new BOF set to acquire so perhaps that will offer a kind of break in this rut of sorts.
