There was a substaintial wait in the DMV office this Tuesday - when I came in to take my number card, I was at 35 and the number just being called to the desk was somewhere in the 50s. A cursory look around the room was enough to know that there were indeed much fewer than 80 people in waiting, but it still took a while for the numbers to roll up to 100 and start again. During the wait I had ample time to run through my flashcards twice more, and despite the affirmation that I still had retained the knowledge which I had completed in obtaining through the prior week, I still did have a sensation of nervousness as I took the tests. It turns out that I would answer more questions wrong for the tanker endorsement than the hazmat exam. I do feel that there were a few questions asked in the tanker test which were not specifically outlined in the corresponding chapter of the CDL rule book, but the result is the same regardless. With both tests passed, I'm well underway to roll with the new job. I have spent two days in training for it, and if those two days are indicative of what a typical day of work is, I think I'll be rather happy with this new position. Here's the summary. There's a handful of locations, all basically within thirty miles of each other, and one task rolls to the next at the whim of the dispatch. Bobtail here, find empty there, bring it to other place, bring something from that other place to a different place, repeat about ten times or so, and that's a day. It's basic enough that I feel like there's some kind of unforeseen rule set or expectation which would make the job undesirable. Here's hoping it never comes to that point. I guess perhaps I could end up with a poor schedule, but it has been previously explained that I will likely have to work weekends, so I'm prepared for something like that. Beyond that, this job seems like a winner. Let's hope so.

My niece is having a baptism tomorrow. It will be performed at the same church where my sister was married, so that will be a nice backdrop to the ceremony.

Song sessions were generally very good this week, disregarding the usual two or three very poor plays. On a somewhat related note, I finally took the time to get a cheap PC for torrent seeding purposes, and I'll be able to get back to performing service at that one place. You know. Wink wink.
