11 months to go until 2018.

Say it ain't so, Joe. He's made some new stuff recently, so why aren't they playing that? Does it not fit the format? Oh well.

Plans were made for my parents and my wife and I to have a postponed celebratory dinner occur this previous Tuesday. It happened, but not without more personal annoyance with how my body wants to sleep lately. I had more written here but that's the gist of it.

Songs. The arcade trip this week was at a later day than usual thanks to my sleep timing being in such disarray. By the time I made it there, I was feeling rather strung out and the cold temperature was affecting me more than usual. I would have been able to adjust for those things eventually, but I wasn't prepared for the other change. A new driving game was put in place directly across the machine, and yet again I now have a situation where there's bright blinking lights glaring directly on the screen as I play. My usual layout is to use Lift and no Sudden, which effectively raises the bottom of the field up on the screen. With the glare coming at the top the screen now, I had to disable Lift and use Sudden+. For some reason, in doing so I came to have my green number increased by twenty points, and if anything this means that it would be more difficult than usual for me to read more note heavy charts. This change also affected my posture ever so slightly that I would have to angle my face and neck downward, and I never really felt comfortable in doing so beforehand and still didn't now. If there is any positive to this, it's that I came to find out that it's much easier to adjust green number and alter Sudden+ cover positioning than doing so with Lift, but maybe there's a change in how that's handled now which I haven't had to worry about until now. Either way, it's good to know that I don't need to burn a song or two just to make those adjustments to what I want. But that's a small consolation if I'm going to have to play the game in this manner at the arcade for the near term future. After a few credits in making these adjustments, I came to a stop and looked around, and took a few long moments to think about how much I should continue playing on the day. On one hand, I have my home setup set in a way that's very much to my liking. I'm also pretty sure players who are much better than me put up with much more distractions as they play. But what is there to be gained by subjecting myself to play a game in a situation which isn't to my liking? Is there some greater purpose or need for me to be there at all? Not really, no. I intend to return as usual next week and I'll bring some things to try to help eliminate the distraction. Home sessions have been pretty strong overall this week. A shame I couldn't get a new record with the clear of Star Field, but oh well. Still sloppy on these plays, though.
