Dear Games, RE: Last Night.

So last night was pretty crazy right? You said you heard some of the real popular kids were using motion controls and you wanted to spice up our relationship. I decided we'd give it a shot, and then you whip out all of these old moves that we all saw last year. If this is where our relationship is going, I think it's time we take a break. It's not me, it's you.
Remember when rhythm games were niche? Now look at them, every Tom, Dick, and Harry has a music game out. Some good, some horrible, but at least they're staying out of my core games. I went back to my mom's house a few weeks ago and she had some super granny game, and diner dash, in addition my wife likes games like PvZ. Casual games aren't going anywhere, but the unholy union of casual motion control games is the real issue. When tripe like carnival games can make a mint, why should Bungie/Epic make shooter games when they can make pet simulators and laugh to the bank?
People, no focus groups, decide that playing a game with a controller is too much of a hurdle to keep upward movement in the industry. When is the last time you heard anybody say "Oh, I'd love to play that, but there are too many buttons"? More important, when did you hear anybody respond "Ha, I bet you'd love to play this but you don't know how to use it".
So, here's hoping that our normal games don't go by the wayside.
