Had to attend to family matters yesterday, so finally getting a session in today.

I have also attained a new set of songs, so here's hoping none creep in on the warmup here.

10177; 3341 3495 1370 338 1261 Combo 337 B -18

dominion, solid state squad, dances with snow fairies, together, evangelize

Difficult to stay in B range if you can't get more Just Greats than Greats. Felt off kilter in Dominion and starting that way is enough to keep you under water for the rest of the set.

The Christmas gift for 2011 was that the Lincle BMS files have come out in full force, so it's time for me to play some new songs.

No Extra Mode or chart modifiers.

24th Century Boy - 11/1398 - 2040; 779 482 94 16 59 AA -134 P: Good sound to the song and the chart is pretty active with a few parts of alternating chord stabs on the hands. And just when it seems like the song comes to an end - it keeps going. Stay on your toes.

A MINSTREL~ver.short-scape~ - 9/1212 - 2024; 840 344 17 4 11 AAA -130 P: Good instrumentation for the style to be expected of a SSD vocal song. Thankfully the volume is balanced so that the Japanese singing isn't so much on the forefront throughout the song, which is probably what kept it tolerable. Lots of mirrored measures throughout.

Almace - 11/1114 - 1693; 667 359 53 6 48 AA -39 F: Ending has some melody triplet measures on one hand while the other plays out some chords, and that's what got me sunk at the end. Probably can get it in a few more tries. Can't say I really agree with the way the melody sounds in terms of the instruments used. The main word that stays in my mind is "dinky". Very staccato and "twink" sounding instruments. Not a fan.

anagrams I to Y - 9/1233 - 2062; 861 340 24 5 7 AAA -130 P: Good. Strong tempo, non-annoying singing with nice harmony at the reprise, good guitar interlude in the back towards the halfway mark of the song, good change up for the ending climax. Once again I find myself saying that this is a rather active chart for a 9.

black.by x-crossfade - 12/1761 - 2267; 816 635 187 77 107 A -81 F: "A 12 by Mass Mad IZM? Uh oh." Sure enough, scratching galore here. Most of it was seeming pretty good, but then some familiar sounds were mixed or brought in from previous songs, which I didn't find very necessary. Challenge to play for sure but I think Red FMJ has shown the concept to already be done better.

call - 8/864 - 1467; 622 223 13 1 6 AAA -69 P: Opening is pretty lame and barren, but song develops nicely once everything is running. Standard Nekomata turns throughout. I like his continued use of reverse sounds. Ending trails off nice with the guitar string scrape echoing out.

change the world - 10/1271 - 1990; 780 430 45 2 28 AAA -269 P: I think if you're going to have a song that's paced at a high BPM, you need to do more to accentuate the higher tempo, or else it sounds like it's a slower song with some extra kicks at the ends of some phrases. The tempo is 284 but the laid-back singing and lack of percussion reinforcement makes it seem like the song wants to be something else than what it is. Vocals seemed lame regardless. Not a fan.

diavolo - 12/1832 - 2264; 818 628 227 60 188 A -178 F: Neat. Song reminds me of a classical composition, but nothing I can name offhand. This is how you make a chart which both has many note streams in addition to making random likely result in worse charts.

DON'T WAKE ME FROM THE DREAM (2010 Summer Edition) - 9/896 - 1403; 557 289 25 8 21 AAA -189 P: Ugh. Main point of the song has percussion backing of a lone note held and warbling in increasingly higher pitches. Annoying to listen and play. That the ending dumps that and lets the drums finish things off doesn't atone for the earlier sins. Bad.

drive me crazy - 10/1254 - 2043; 832 379 23 9 20 AAA -186 P: OK song and chart. Singing tone isn't the greatest but it is what is to be expected of the usual upbeat 180 BPM song. Comparisons to smooooch are inevitable but I don't think they're all that similar. Not a big fan but I've heard worse.

Electric Super Highway - 9/942 - 1541; 622 297 18 1 7 AAA -133 P: Not very interesting. I guess the word I'm feeling most strongly is "safe". The main melody doesn't really evolve throughout the song. Might have benefited by being 20 BPM faster.

express emotion - 9/1248 - 2011; 803 405 33 2 8 AAA -207 P: Yep, that is what J-Pop sounds like. Yes. Seems like it make its point about 75% of the way through and then just padded things out to get to the two minute mark.

F - 12/1760 - 2110; 721 668 238 41 157 A -236 F: Servicable. Felt like most parts of the song was AA and Votum Stellarum. Tiring chart, particularly towards the end.

far east nightbird - 10/1126 - 1796; 715 366 36 6 14 AAA -205 P: Not bad. Strange syncopation on some of the phrasing, which is probably what most helps make this song be distinctive.

follow tomorrow - 10/1193 - 1954; 789 376 23 2 10 AAA -166 P: Good. Auto Tune is put to good use with the vocals here. Good energy running throughout the song and it doesn't resort to the fifth pitch increase for the climax.

Feeling drained now so that'll be enough. I still have more than half of the new songs to play.
