Feeling a bit better today, I believe.

Let's see how that translates to playing here.

CaptivAte2~覚醒~, VIP ~飛べない俺はただのクマ, アズール リミックス, innocent walls, 物怪舞踏

Opened Captivate2 rather strongly, and then limped out at a high 55% C - with that song it's always a strong open and weak close or the reverse. Don't know why. Not a great roll with VIP but well enough to at least hit all the scratches and stay average through the chart. Azure Remix was its usual shitty self. IW was fine and I almost pulled things out through Mononoke but just couldn't hang on. Rather demanding set with note count total of 9520.

Onward with playing more new Lincle songs.

No Extra Mode, no Random. Regul Speed when appropriate.

gigant - 10/1038 - 1623; 623 377 28 3 10 AAA -222 P: Orchestra Hits is like black pepper - when used sparingly, it can help the dish but it is very easy to oversaturate. Most of this song's main melody features a lot of staccato high hits which wear out quickly and would have been better served if appearing just at the end climax to help build things up. Not thrilled by this.

I'm so happy - 11/1205 - 1803; 695 413 68 12 59 AA -71 P: Not bad. No typical Ryu buzzing or traps to be found here. Good vocal use, probably because it was sparse. Demanding chart.

In the blackest den - 11/1457 - 2133; 807 519 103 6 46 AA -133 P: Not quite sure what to make of this. Interesting scratchy parts come in the second half to accentuate the evolving theme. Not happy that this song mimics Diavolo in having quick chromatic runs spread out over the two hands. I'll have to play it a few more times to get a better feel for its flow.

into the sunlight - 10/1477 - 2440; 1009 422 35 6 7 AAA -185 P: Interesting. I think the ending could have had a nicer way to fade out by keeping the melody fading over lessening drums, but that's probably just more my expectation. No complaints about the main melody, percussion, or vocals.

kyamisama onegai! - 9/1098 - 1787; 722 343 28 1 4 AAA -162 P: Dr. Honda doing his best Yamaoka imitation here. Very bizarre sounding song, with just enough of it kept on the normal side so that it doesn't wander off into some sort of avant-garde territory.

LAX5 feat. Ryota Yoshinari - 10/1544 - 2550; 1054 442 34 3 21 AAA -194 P: Replace the dinky electronoise stuff in this with some hard guitar riffs and this song would have been fantastic. As it is, there's more good stuff than bad, but the opening is for some other song entirely and the countermelody interjection has the wrong instruments being used. Strong song, but could have been better.

liquid crystal girl feat. echo - 9/1202 - 2026; 841 344 12 2 6 AAA -110 P: Ew. Good use of scratching for the singing and towards the ending but man, stupid melody and bad singing just sink this down. Bad.

love b.b.b. - 10/1181 - 1869; 740 389 44 2 11 AAA -230 P: Good. Ventures too close to Beautiful Angel territory at times but not often or long enough for it to make the song seem derivative.

lucky days - 10/1111 - 1800; 727 346 31 1 10 AAA -175 P: Average. Sota and Kanako both seem to be just going through the motions for the majority of this. I must say I was hoping Sota to do more tweaking with her vocals as he did with the Akemi songs. Decent ending reprise but not enough to make this song spectacular.

Mermaid girl-秋葉工房MIX- - 9/1029 - 1785; 768 249 8 1 3 AAA -44 P: Very safe remix. Yes, there is more bassline and drive backed on the original song, but there's barely little else which differentiates this from the source.

miami sunset drive - 10/940 - 1478; 593 292 27 6 24 AAA -193 P: I think this could benefit most from having more countermelody going on while the main melody long notes are held. The laid back pacing would have accommodated something like that better.

NNRT (regul) - 12/1957 - 2600; 917 766 174 31 175 A -9 P: Chiptune sound and a lot of scale masturbation means this will find a fanbase with a sizable group of players. I guess there's more parts to it that I like than don't but I find the ending in particular to be rather lazy.

phoenix - 11/1329 - 2046; 788 470 53 4 28 AA -21 P: Good. High energy, good percussion and bass, no lull in the stretch.

prompt - 11/1502 - 2225; 857 511 89 9 53 AA -111 P: No complaints, song sounded as about I would expect for it being 198BPM with vocals. Melody is fine. Tricky chart.

quick silver - 11/1428 - 2135; 815 505 75 11 47 AA -86 F: Strange ending with weird accidental chord bounces off of some holds. Unfocused, rambling song that keeps plodding along and doesn't really seem to build up from anything to anywhere else.

Part 3 tomorrow.
